Can someone explain the difference in these two 'assault weapons'?

Private citizens can acquire a full auto certification in some states. Like I stated all it takes is time, money and the proper background checks ( My inclusion here is as long as your not of Mooslime persuasion, then just demand it and it is probably yours at tax payers expense).

There are full auto shoots yearly in Oregon that bring in hundreds of dealers and private individuals both as spectators and shooters. You can rent a mag full to shoot of just about any type of full auto weapon you desire at these shoots. Fun in the sun a couple times a year.

Since 1986, it has been illegal to manufacture full auto firearms for the civilian market. Weapons manufactured prior to that are legal to own, they just require a ton of paperwork and a lot of money. You don't have to be a dealer to own one, you just have to have a license, which is not the same as an FFL.

only the time between there manufacturing. they are both good choices for home defense. and every one should own at least one of them or something similar.

so was the musket at the time it was manufactured. quit whining about taking peoples rights away and protect your self. I don't want to hear that's what the police are for. if some one is invading your home and if you have a chance to call the police, by the time they get there it will be TO LATE the damage will already be done and the perpetrator will be GONE.

And why wouldn't we be satisfied with Semi-autos. We banned them before and it stopped there. As for a suicide bomber--after OK City regulations are so tight that the only bombs available will be the small vest types. It will still do a lot of damage but thanks to regulations nothing close to what we experienced with a truck bomb.
Oh, and one last thing. Do you think a .44 magnum will put a dent in a suicide bomber? Don't even need to worry about placement the BOOM will scare him to death...

It will put a hole in him, alright. Also in the person standing behind him and more than likely the person standing behindthem. I thought an authority on defensive firearms such as yourself would recognize the dangers of overpenetration from a round as powerful as a 44 mag.
An acquaintance of mine accidentally discharged a .357 magnum inside once. The bullet penetrated 2 interior walls, and lodged in the outside wall of the home, nearly penetrating that also. A .44 has considerably more penetration than a .357.

Oh, I had a friend of my family play quick draw with his .44Mag and he shot himself right above the knee. There was so much damage that the leg had to be amputated. No need to tell me about it's power--I got to see it first hand which is why it's always my example of the ultimate gun to have. It really is bad ass...
