You mean, by that, that on your own, you have no views, haven't thought about an issue to any length before the issue comes up, then accept someone else's views carte blanche......unfortunately that has resulted in the mess we are currently in. Every law passed should have a damned good reason for being passed, and a good reason acceptable to most Americans for it to be passed. Problem is that we have no real thinkers and movers in government - only those thirsty for a job with no responsibilities and that will provide them with a good living their entire lives. What you describe isn't compromise - compromise is when each side gives a little. Dems have never given an inch, republicans have capitulated on every issue, and THAT is why their constituency has begun to pull away from the fold.
