Regarding the event described, I gotta say it's a bit Berkeley-esque (a city more defined by what it is against than what it is for.)
Just shows, as we all know, that someone somewhere is going to be offended by anything said or done. Ya can't please everyone all of the time!
My guess is the mischief charge is related to the burning aspect and not the motive.
But....whatever.

Most flag burning protestors bring their own flag! The rudeness punished probably had to do with burning universiry property and causing the expense of all that added security.
