I think a single dose of lead would be just as effective and a helluva lot cheaper.

I've always thought an air powered bolt gun, like the ones used on cattle would be more cost effective. Give the prisoner a shot of happy juice before leaving his cell, lock his head into a holding device, put the bolt gun in place to correctly hit the brain stem dead center, and three people throw switches to fire the bolt into the base of the skull.

Use a power steam cleaner, and the chamber could be ready in less than 30 minutes for the next dead man to walk in. You could clean out all of the death rows in a few weeks.

What the bell is the matter with a piece of rope? Eco friendly, non polluting, and recyclable/reusable. Can be made from hemp so the hippies should love it. When done outside, say from a big tree, everyone watching will get some fresh air and any miscreants can see their fate if they continue misbehaving. Win/Win.

Why bother with any elaborate method. Simple bullet in the back of the head like they do/did in Russia would suffice.
