This time, in Oregon. Just like every single mass shooting in the past ten years except for one, it occurred in a gun free zone.
As expected, the Prevaricator-in-Chief went on National TV and called for "common sense gun control." Typical. All but one mass shooting occurs in a gun free zone, so create more of them. All of these shooters had mental problems. Many were being medicated with psychotropic drugs. Several of them used stolen weapons that no gun control in the world would have prevented.
In 2013, the Instant Background Check supported by the NRA caused more than 70,000 stops on people who were attempting to purchase guns illegally. The BATFE, the Federal Agency tasked with gun law enforcement, prosecuted less than 100 of these cases, and obtained less than 30 convictions. Out.Of.More.Than.76,000 violations.
The solution IS more "common sense gun control." The most sensible of which would be to abolish the BATFE, and start prosecuting the incompetent, corrupt cowboy peckerheads that infest this agency, rather than give them a "get-out-of-jail free" card.
You may recall that this is the same BATFE that came up with the wildly successful "Fast and Furious" gun
walking? program. It was wildly successful, for the Mexican dope cartels who scored more than 2500 firearms that the BATFE "lost." More than forty of them have been recovered in AZ, confiscated from wetback criminals who were apprehended by police while committing felonies.
How many BATFE agents were prosecuted or disciplined for this fiasco which resulted in numerous deaths? None. Nada. Zilch. Zip, zero.
The link below is a small sample of BATFE abuses and screwups. It is by no means complete. These clueless mothers' mistakes are the people Obama wants in charge of his "sensible gun control."

An interesting codicil I just came across, the words of not only Thomas Jefferson, but also of Walter Mondale:
Thomas Jefferson: A Repertory of His Ideas on
Government, ed. Gilbert Chinard (Baltimore: Johns Hopkins Press, 1926), 314: "A principal source of errors and injustice are false ideas of utility. For example: that legislator has false ideas of utility who considers particular more than general conveniencies, who had rather command the sentiments of mankind than excite them, who dares say to reason, 'Be thou a slave;' who would sacrifice a thousand real advantages to the fear of an imaginary or trifling inconvenience; who would deprive men of the use of fire for fear of their being burnt, and of water for fear of their
being drowned; and who knows of no means of preventing evil but by destroying it.
The laws of this nature are those which forbid to wear arms, disarming those only who are not
disposed to commit the crime which the laws mean to prevent. Can it be supposed, that those who have the courage to violate the most sacred laws of humanity, and the most important of the code, will respect the less considerable and arbitrary injunctions, the violation of which is so easy, and
of so little comparative importance? Does not the execution of this law deprive the subject of that personal liberty, so dear to mankind and to the wise legislator? and does it not subject the innocent to all the disagreeable circumstances that should only fall on the guilty? It certainly makes the situation of the assaulted worse, and of the assailants better, and rather encourages than prevents murder, as it requires less courage to attack unarmed than armed persons."
Former Democratic party presidential Candidate (against Ronald Reagan) Walter Mondale stated once: "Gun bans don't disarm criminals--they attract criminals
Bear in mind that in Obama's mind, gun bans ARE sensible gun control. While a Senator, he voted to ban private ownership of handguns, require a ruinous annual tax on gun owners, ban ownership of ALL semi-automatic weapons, (including hunting shotguns ), require expensive and time-consuming Federal licensing for firearms owners, and all the while claimed to be a Second Amendment supporter.
Not a single proposal he has endorsed would do a single thing to prevent mass shootings. Enforcement of existing laws would, but we have already seen how effective the BATFE is at that. They are FAR too busy harrassing law abiding citizens and smuggling guns to Mexican dope gangs to enforce those laws already on the books. The solution is not to make more laws that won't be enforced.
In the past 20 years, the US population has increased by about 40 million. There have been 11 million concealed carry permits issued. The number of murders has dropped by 50%. Not per capita, the actual NUMBER of murders has dropped. The per capita is even greater. Liberal proponents of "sensible gun control" hope to God you won't look up the statistics from both the US Department of Justice and the FBI which bear this out. It screws up their whole sales pitch.
