norte-we need to make our military as strong as possible not to engage in wars but to deter them. Nobody with any common sense will attack the most powerful military in the world. Right now we are flying airplanes which are older than their pilots and having to scrounge the salvage yards for spare parts. We are not exactly, up to date, and the same applies to our warships and other armaments. Our military is the weakest since WWII when we were able to fight wars on two fronts. We need an upgrade. America First !!!

I think by "bloated" you mean a currently
small, Military Force, "TOP HEAVY" with "Educated
Idiot", "Micromanager's", "Brown Nosing", "Yes Men", & Political "ArmChair" Warrior's, whom
would rather deal in "KISS ASS", Theory", than
actually engaging in COMBAT, or Leading From The FRONT, Instead of The REAR!!! Our Military Need's
The Very Best Of Everything, Including A Superior Equipped, Appropriately Numbered,
Lean, Mean, "FIGHTING MACHINE", That Would
Make, Even Hitler's Proud & Ruthless, "SS",Look

Of course they would. Our nuclear arsenal is a last resort. Even during the height of the cold war, when I was in the Army, nuclear options were considered a last resort. Our "bloated military is over-deployed. Our Navy is at pre WWII levels of combat readiness and size. The Air Force is using aging planes. The VA is a mess. Wounded vets are treated like shit by bureaucratic assholes who never served. When we entered WWII, we were completely unprepared to do so. People who said we "spent too much on the military" were responsible for thousands of avoidable casualties at the outset, in the Pacific Theater. Every time the military is cut, it's personnel pay the price. In blood, in lack of medical care, in substandard equipment.
You would rely on a nuclear arsenal when a president like Barack Obama said he would not use it, even if we were attacked with WMD's? The nukes are under the control of the president. A nuclear strike invites retaliation. It is almost a certainty. Perhaps if we manufactured more of our own equipment, instead of procuring it from overseas sources it would help.

Would you feel better if we armed our troops with BB guns and gave them bicycles to pedal into battle?

LOKI: Sorry Loki, I was having one of my mind wandering's(Off Subject, Senile Moment's),
& unfortunately, they are becoming more frequent. You know, The U.S. Army has adopted
The Sig-Sauer Side Arm(what happened to Colt
& Smith&Wesson, & Ruger?). We gave the entire M-14 Rifle technology, & internal "working's", to Taiwan( although they at least,
are still our Allies). Under the Clinton/Obama Era, many of our Military, & Industrial Top Secret's, were Stolen, either by Internet Hacking,
or Enemy Spies, that were never caught! A lot
Of Incompetence, carelessness, stupidity, or
Out-Right Treason, & NO-ONE, Is Ever held accountable. Made In America, By American's,
should once again be SOP! I'd like to see another 50,000, Super MOAB BOMB'S, produced
By American worker's, along with whatever
else AMERICA NEED'S, & An unemployment rate
Of 1% or Less!!! Also the Construction Of A Much Improved, Completely Modern, Infrastructure.

People seem to forget that we won WWII in large part because of our manufacturing capability. We made most of what we needed. Britain, with a more experienced military, was on the ropes because they couldn't supply themselves. Our Merchant Marine suffered almost 25% casualties in WWII, far more than the Army, Navy or Marines. They took most of those casualties ferrying supplies to Britain. The Limeys owe our Merchant Marine quite a debt.
