My comments tend to be SSS, Short, Sweet, and Sassy, I would just shoot the "bastard" (Patton's word) on sight.

Do You Grab Your Gun and Shoot Him?

If someone broke into your home and your kids were sleeping in the next room, what would you do?

A/ Call 911 and sweep the house with your gun, leaving the kids in their rooms.
B/ Grab the kids and place them in a safe area, then confront the intruder with the gun in hand.
C/ Stand your guard in the kids' room and unload on the invader if he comes in; ignoring all the warnings you've shouted.
D/ Call 911 and sweep the house with your gun, but grab the kids and place them in a safe area. If you spot the intruder then confront them.
E/ Option D and try to disarm/defuse the situation.

Or her? If she was a looker I would try and bargain with her and offer a deal she can't refuse. Who knows she just might be "ready for Freddie".or in my lingo, "your uncle willie"

Lawfully you are required to state to the intruder to leave, you are yourself armed and will shoot. It helps if you can get 911 on the phone so they can hear what you say first.....if the intruder does not leave immediately, you have the right to shoot. If you shoot, you have to meet the standard was your life in danger? And if you say yes, then if you elect to use deadly force, you have to kill the person you shoot. If you do not kill them, then you can or may be deemed NON justified to shoot as it appears you were not in jeopardy of your own life. The time you may have in a situation is merely a second or two...use that time wisely by saying what you need to say. Even if you have no 911 operator hearing what your warning was, if you say it and later you are investigated, they may require you to polygraph....maybe....maybe not. If you do shoot, shoot as many shots as possible into the intruder until the intruder hits the floor and is not moving towards you or anyone else in your home. Many classes teach you to only shoot a few times in the mid-torso area, which may not actually kill the intruder, but if you get off 5 or 6 shots or more and hit center mass and a shot or two to the head....you should be fine.

Most people have NOT trained for the intruder situation in what is classified as a combat setting. I would hope you train for it. Train for what doors or windows someone could access to come into your home. The reality is, by the time you start to respond to the noise and the few moments you are starting to realize someone is entering your home, you have already given some advantage to the intruder. Training is so very important. Knowing where to take a position, and how rapidly you have to act when it comes to your starting to pull the trigger. Training is also vital to your choice of weapon, and things such as will you have to shoot through your own interior door to hit the intruder? Having a spare magazine for your weapon, or a back up weapon at the ready, these things are all something you need to take into consideration and add to your training.

Every single person in my Family is "combat trained" and knows how to react to the situation of an intruder, or any confrontation out in public. For the most part, you only are going to be aware of a situation when the "bad guy" has already started it....that already puts you on a disadvantage. Your being well trained is the only thing that is going to make you be a survivor. Not being in a panic, knowing where you keep any spare magazines on your person or your back up weapon in case you need it, and not getting into a mental state of hesitation (deer in the headlights) that some people have happen. I can tell you for anyone that had never been in a conflict, it can make your mind stop for a moment or two, as it can make a person be in the "is this happening to me" thought process long enough to make you not survive it. Training for the situation is more important then just going to a target range and shooting a static target.

I would hope anyone will be successful at defending their own personal safety and anyone else in the home or in public. A clean shooting will even be investigated and what you do right will help you also survive that.

Given all this...I pity the jerk wad that comes into my home. That person will have a instant nickname...swiss cheese......

They ain't breaking in to borrow a cup of sugar.
I would probably shoot the sunnavabitch and get into trouble.
Maybe Trump would understand and change the laws protecting the criminals.
Meanwhile, I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
