This is the first and only article I have seen, and read, about the Mid-West wildfires. But, I'm somewhat old so that's really not sayin' much.

Well so much for individual responsibility. Looks like everyone needs a helping hand from Washington now...

Good Morning Peter,

Yes, we all could use a hand from time to time, even from that nasty Swamp! These fires have been raging for 2 to 3, if not 4 weeks now. Yet, I have read nothing about these fires, and, I have been without a TV for little more than month now, so I can't say there.

Archie has made periodic reports on the ordinary Americans who have been trucking in hay, grain I suppose, and other needed supplies throughout the whole ordeal.

I'm bettin' you've read his postings about this, yes?

Thanks for posting this Questgirl. This is good news! This is the kind of disaster relief needed. The generously donated hay will only last so long, and these people need grazing land in order to maintain their livelihoods while their pastures, and what's left of their herds recover.

Peter should be grateful that none of his tax dollars will be going to help maintain America's food supply. The animals will just be eating grass that will regrow itself.

You're most welcome Mr Bunker. Other than your reports, this is the first article I have seen in my on-line news. I'm not privy to the TV for over a month now.

How much time does it take for fields to recover? I realize different grasses may grow at different rates.

EDIT: All concrete and no foliage makes for an unhappy Earth climate.

I really don't know how long it will take until they can be grazed again. I guess a lot would depend on the amount of rainfall they get. We have had some good rains here, lately, and the burned pastures I've seen look like green carpet.

Nothing greens up and produces good graze as does fire followed by rain. Nature's way of controlling and improving the environment.

It rained pretty steady in my area these past two weeks. Not sure about SW Kansas. I can not even fathom the square area (beyond a map) these fires have consumed and all the personal property destroyed within that area.

I do believe fire brings renewal. Coming to the entire Earth soon or not so soon!!!

SW Kansas has had some too, I belive. Up around Liberal, Dodge, and such. I think they are calling for more early next week. Oldroy lives in that area. He would know more than me. Since I'm not out running the roads any more, I don't have eyes on to know for sure.

Archie, are the wildfires under control? Or are they still raging? To imagine, I can only shudder, even if under control. Fire is a life in and of itself, it breathes with every breath it takes.

I have been to that area once, Liberal I believe, back in 1975. SE Kansas is the most beautiful area in Kansas, having the Flint Hills. However, there is something to be said for its 'barren' land, meaning sparse of that dam concrete inducing "climate change".

My Blue Pond of a 'trap' area ain't so bad. It hustles and bustles with activity due to its own "Shining Hill" and still considered a "bedroom" community. KC Metro is about 30 miles East, with the Capital of Topeka about 30 miles to the West.

Geographically, I describe Lawrence as "a square with a circle (KU) in the middle". It has grown into more of a rectangle however, with "The Hill" located in the East.

The fires are out, and recovery has begun. I saw another video today of a huge convoy of trucks loaded with hay, feed, and fencing supplies rolling through Woodward Ok. this morning headed to the Oklahoma Panhandle.

It does the heart good, and gives a person hope for humanity, it does!
