Isaiah chapter 13

Verse 1

Burden can be looked at as bad news. God is going to send the Medes and Persians to conquer Babylon, after Judah has been removed from Jerusalem about 70 years. Cyrus will authorize the Jews to return to Jerusalem and rebuild. At the time of this writing Israel and Judah still existed.

Verse 2 - 8

At the time of this writing this was prophetic. Now it is historic. God did what He said He would do. God will do what He said He would do. God moves nations. He is more upset with this nation legalizing abortion and same sex marriage than eating shrimp. Mark 7:15

Verse 9 - 14

God has been warning of upcoming destruction for thousands of years, in many different books.

Verse 15 - 18

When an army attacked a city, no one was spared. The Medes and Persians destroyed the Babylonians. Nebuchadnezzar son’s name was Nabonius. He liked to wage war and fight battles. He hated politics. His son’s name was Belshazzar. He let his son run Babylon while he fought battles. That is why in Daniel 5:7 Belshazzar says he will make whoever can interpret the handwriting on the wall the third ruler in Babylon.

Verse 19 - 22

Babylon is and has been in ruins until this day. When Saddam Hussein said he would rebuild Babylon, he signed his death certificate
