The South Vietnamese suffered horribly after the fall of Saigon, it actually reminds one of the Nazi concentration camps. Thousands of them were rounded up and sent to camps in the north that was very reminiscent of the concentration camps of Nazi Germany. Re-education camps were set all over the country north as well as the south. Most of the men that were in the South Vietnamese Army did as much as 14 years in these camps where a great many died. Its people like you that allow those kinds of atrocities to take place. Read the book "Ride the Thunder" for an eye opening historical lesson. Why do you think the Vietnamese undertook such dire actions to escape the communists. I served two tours in Vietnam in 1966 through 1968 and didn't really know what happened to the South Vietnamese after the US pulled out of the war and was very ashamed of the US after reading happened to the Southerners after the war.

Sir! We had no business being in South Vietnam period. You can't go around the World righting every wrong. The war in Vietnam was an economic war that the United States had no intentions of winning. It cost the Ametican People close to sixty thousand of its finest and untold of hundreds of billions of dollars were wasted on a sewer hole. What do we have to show for it? Nothing. This does not take in account the damage that was done to our social fabric and the countless lives and property damage that was done to the other side.

In fact, the US public schools are already indoctrinating the children teaching Islam, and reciting that their god I the only god. While Christian kids are not allowed to pray to Christ, nor carry the Christian Holy Bible or any material that pertain to Christ. If the kids pray to Jesus, the kids are suspended or terminated from the school. Christians are the ones funding the schools.

The SEIU teachers under Mr. Obama administration are indoctrinating the school children.
That must stop. We pay so much tax money to fund these public schools only to learn that our kids instead of learning academics are being taught ISLAM!

Sarge, thousands more died at sea trying to escape the communist murderers. Seldom mentioned by anyone these days.

You obviously leap to erroneous conclusions, I know exactly why General Nguyễn Ngọc Loan, the Saigon Police Chief executed the Viet Cong Soldier.

"Its people like you that allow those kinds of atrocities to take place."

This is a total bullshit statement based on no evidence at all. If you are pissed off about what happened in Viet Nam you need to take it up with the political leaders who got us into that debacle and distorted every attempt at victory into some political football. When you consider how many of our men and women never came back from that meat grinder and you go look at the wall in Washington you will get the message, we never should have been there in the first place. And don’t feed me any more crap about ‘people like me’ until you know me.

That picture I posted was iconic, it is known world wide and it was murder, pure and simple. The General had no authority to execute prisoners, it violated the Geneva Convention and it violates Humanity. It doesn’t matter one iota how brutal the North Vietnamese were it does not excuse our becoming just as brutal and when our allies behave in this manner we are morally culpable. Just imagine if you were standing in a street in Hanoi and that bullet was passing through your skull.

Try going to a High School graduation party for an 18 year old good looking young guy who got drafted right out of high school. Two weeks later, bon voyage, two and a half months later welcome home, in a box. He got killed on his first patrol in Viet Nam. I can still hear his mother's sobs. Johnson was very happy, the fake body count was high that week.

Had a 2Lt. who was a popular man with both Officers and Enlisted. Got separate orders for RVN, and we were informed at a BN assembly called for the announcement , that he had been KIA in his first firefight, carrying wounded Enlisted men out of the fire zone.... I don't think anyone spoke at all for at least an hour....

Pafret,

This is onetime I have to say your right. I lost four cousins in that God forsaken war. I didn't understand things then like I do now. I don't blame all those young people during the 60s and 70s who told the Federal Government to go to hell and I am not serving in a conflict that has no end in sight, the government lies time after time and has no intention of winning the conflict. I am of the opinion if you are going to fight a war you fight it to win it. I learned at an early age you can't trust the Government, because it lies and is deceitful in terms of its policies. I have nothing else to say!

Sam, I started that conflict as a warhawk. I had nothing but contempt for Draft dodgers fleeing to Canada. It didn't take very long to find, out that the reason we were in that war was a false flag lie. I don't know who this war was a payoff for but I suspect it was the military industrial complex.

The hell of it was. that all of the draft dodgers got amnesty and were allowed to return. I remember one guy who stayed in place and refused to be drafted or serve in a non-combatant capacity. He went to jail for his principles and served out his entire term, no amnesty.

That war was the worst in every respect; the veterans returning were villified as murderers and baby killers. They were spat on and every form of disrespect possible was heaped on them. I always thought those bleeding heart liberals would do better to grab a gun and go to Washington to shoot some of the political bastards who sent those soldiers into that hellhole. The same kid of shit for brains that are screaming about the poor refugees now were crapping on the men who put their asses on the line under orders from the Criminal in Chief.

I have been in Washington hundreds of times, each time I go to that memorial and each time it moves me to tears. I say a prayer and walk away cursing the rotten politicians who sent those men to die for their profit.

Number one on the list was LBJ. His unbelievable ability to misunderstand Ho Chi Minh left 50,000 dead, many from PTSD suicide after the war, some from exposure to agent orange (to include my friend and pit crew member while racing FF in the SCCA, Doug Freytag) some from exposure to exotic tropical diseases and other strange and unusual things. That Democrat President and the pliable Congress will forever have their blood on their hands, not to mention the blood of at least 200,000 Vietnamese, Cambodians, Chinese and others....

Pafret,

Once again you are historically correct in your view of things. I think the main person you can blame is President Johnson. The Gulf of Tonkien resolution was based on a lie. How in the name of goodness could a pea pod gunship go up against modern cruisers, destroyers and aircraft carriers. They can't and it was just an excuse to expand the war.

Just to share something with you. I was just in elementary school. I remember one night I was watching the evening news. I remember watching one of the main news organizations covering a story. I saw two young Vietnamese men riding around Saigon on mopeds. I knew something wasn't right with this situation. I asked myself the question why weren't those two young men in uniform defending their country? Our boys were fighting their war and sacrificing their lives. Even at that age I knew something stunk and was not kosher.
