The Last Grand Master

On this day in 1314, The Last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, Jacques de Molay, and a few other Templars, were sent to death, "after enduring torture and many other humiliations". The story of their rise and subsequent downfall is a saga worth reading. They were very skillful fighters during the Crusades and their financial dealings were a model for banking systems even to the present day. The Templars were also great builders of fortifications in Europe and the Holy Land, some of which still stand today. They were tortured and put to death for the crime of expecting a French king, Philip IV, to pay back a sum of money they had lent him. And we think the politicians of today are bad!

"While burning on the pyre, De Molay cursed King Philip IV of France, his descendants, Pope Clement V, and everyone else who supported his death. De Molay said that within a year and a day, Clement V and Philip IV would die. He also said Philip's bloodline would reign in France no more". The really scary part is that every word came true.

On this day in 1314, The Last Grand Master of the ... (show quote)

All of the Templars in France, who had not gotten word to vamoose, were arrested on the same morning and this massive police action was orchestrated by Guillaume de Nogaret, Phillip's éminence grise. De Molay, under torture confessed to the trumped up charges brought against the Templar Order and when he was near death was permitted to go to the home of Geoffroi de Charney, who was also a Templar and tortured. The men recovered enough to linger for several years before the final verdict. De Molay and De Charney recanted and confessed several times before their final recanting and subsequent burning at the stake.

The Book "The Second Messiah" suggests that DeMolay was wrapped in a shroud and through some chemical process his visage was transferred to that shroud.. The same shroud was said to have been made public by the De Charney family 50 years later when it subsequently became known as the Shroud of Turin.

King Philip IV, was in debt to everyone and his primary goal in acting against the Templars was to steal the Templar wealth of monies and land holdings, to finance his kingdom. He died of a stroke within a year of De Molay's death; his three sons and a grandson became king after him and all of them were dead within fourteen years which ended the Capetian line
