CBT-Agree ! Let the rich boys and girls get a taste of the military. Our volunteer military is becoming a
mercenary force as opposed to patriotic service. How about $78.00 monthly then a raise to $82.00. lol America First!!!

Excellent suggestion.
Americans weren't so agreeable to foreign wars when the draft was in effect.

Here's a suggestion by General Smedley Butler on how to end foreign wars: During wartime the salaries of every politician on Capitol Hill and the salaries of all corporate officers who profit from war to be reduced to the salary of the lowest ranking member of the military.

Why limit that to time of war? No one is shooting at the congressmen and they certainly aren't on duty 24 and 7 if need be. Consider what it would take for one of us to go and fight in a middle east hell hole. Even if we were capable who would want to put his butt on the line when there are "rules of engagement" other than see the enemy, kill the enemy and stay alive.

I don't know WTF you are whining about, you never served this country. All you ever do is drum up shit to criticize and condemn America. And, where you find these has-beens is anyone's guess. F*ck them and the snake that hatched them.

The manner in which Obama trashed the military, eviscerated it, condemned its veterans, snubbed the troops, and lowered morale to historical levels, it's no wonder young Americans are having second thoughts about joining. Maybe now, with a real soldier in charge of our defense, the situation will change. Moreover, not if but when we get hit again with another mass casualty attack, we'll see a lot of young Americans stepping up to the plate. After the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, kids as young as twelve were trying to join the military, and some of them actually got in. The youngest Marine on Iwo Jima was fourteen.

I didn't serve, but did register for the draft as soon as I turned 18. Would gladly serve now if I was younger.

I joined the Marine Corps Reserve when I was still in high school and served 7 years.
That was during the Vietnam war.
Fortunately there was a draft in those days so the reserves weren't used as canon fodder as they are today.
