RBN is to news as you are to intelligent. If you're studying Marxism, why the hell would you not read Marx and Engels. In order to get where Marx is coming from, you should, at minmum, have read Berkely, Hume, Kant, Hegel (especially Hegel), Schopenhauer and Swedenborg. Maybe Nietzsche and many others. Marx considered himself a Hegelian. In fact, the real name of Communism is Dialectical Materialism. It evolved as an extension of an Enlightenment movement the members of which were called, collectively, Physiocrats. Physiocracy was fundamental Capitalism. If you're as stupid as you act, you are dismissing this thumbnail sketch; since it comes directly from the writings of the philosophers, it is unimpeachable. In the eight years it took me to get my PhD, I accomplished more than you did in 45 years.

As for being a Communist, you could only believe so if you knew not a particle of what Communism is. I am somewhere between a Fabian and a Schumpeterian, leaning toward Schumpeter. Don't bother looking up either; they're well beyond your grasp." End quote.

I have been reduced, somewhat, to reading a few of your posts, unfortunately. I have one question, that I have been trying to figure out in the last couple of days, and one comment about your "idiotology". Well, two questions, really.

1. Did Marx actually predict that once capitalism had "collapsed of its accord"---I'm paraphrasing here---and socialism was established, that after a few years---and I don't remember how many years he required---no government would be needed at all for the collective to survive? If that is true, then what distinguishes an anarchist from a Marxist/Socialist?

2. I was under the impression that Dialectical Materialism was a logical method, not an idiotology; but you may be right, for I cannot find, anywhere, or on any Marxist website, exactly how it was used in the determination of valid arguments. Lenin was said to be the best at that of any of the idiotologists. Could you explain Dialectical Materialism for me and to me?

3. Of course, Marx would consider himself an Hegelian; Hegel gave birth to the only "philosophy" or logical method, so-called,that Marx could use to give credence to the ramblings of a child who felt unable to compete. Hegel suffered from cognitive dysfunction; he felt that the French revolution ended in good for all, yet had misgivings in its methods, finally succumbing to the primitive belief that all of life, all of reality, is contradictory. This is cognitive dysfunction. I had assumed his Dialectical Materialism is the "logical"---that is, non-logical---method he used to legitimatize that idiotology.

4. Did Hegel believe that human nature could be anything one wanted it to be?

I guess that is four questions. Can you handle them?

One more thing: I try to avoid reading either Marx or Hegel; if you quote them, please tell me in which of their works I can find them. I've discovered, in my college career, that reading the original, rather than some college professor's interpretation of the original, allows me to formulate more correct interpretations.

Just thought of another question I've had lately: Are you one of Ovomit's Marxist professors?

So, posters: Do you think theotts is simply a sham?

(Those comments were made on the thread: "I Am Shocked and Appalled and Dangerously Close to Hating Free Speech."

At the least he is a well read asshole. I believe he is nothing more than a very leftwing troll. I will have no further conversation with such a person. Waste of time

His writing makes no sense. Another person who just sorta connects words together without regard for the "sense" of them.

Wonder why he never blocks me, lj? I can be pretty obnoxious as well as you can!! I'll have to ask him. Really, though, Glaucon doesn't bother me so much; we kind of have a thing going. Don't ask what; I'm not sure I really know.

He's certainly not the brightest bulb in the box. Yet tries to pass himself off as an educated Lefty. Then resorts to ad hominems when he realizes someone else has caught on to him.
