Have some NATO members been enjoying a kind of welfare existence?

How many members are there in NATO? How many are actually paying their agreed share?

Well, one question is easily answered: NATO is an Alliance that consists of 28 independent member countries.

Now, who is paying the agreed-to amount?

...but only the United States, Estonia, Greece, Poland and United Kingdom are paying.

NATO is an organization that ensures French citizens enjoy a shorter work-week, retire earlier and with better benefits than Americans.

Ah, yes; the world needs our cheese and our wines, eh?

But those Frenchmen as so considerate mon ami they planted trees all along their main roads, their side roads, their walk ways so those laboring German troops can walk in the shade.

I think it is still in our best interest to belong... but the rest have to 'pull up their socks' so to speak.

What do you favor about it??

Yes, the rest certainly do!! At the very least we should demand such and tell them until the others do, we will not contribute...

NATO provides us with a rather wide political footprint and contacts which offer plenty of benefits to international cooperation and mutual benefit if- IF- the construct is sound and agreed to by all. Failure to communicate or to maintain communication and mutual concerns seldom if ever yield a good future.

With the members who have contributed there resides plenty of 'friendly' pressure to encourage the rest to step up.

We'll have to wait and see, but I am for a strong allied group in Europe and its surrounds.

I think those contacts will follow the money regardless of NATO. We all know to which country the money trail.leads.

Why pay excessively for the privilege of paying excessively?

The UN just might "self deport" if someone, say, Germany (who wants this globalism shit to work more than a teenage boy wants to get laid) was to give them a better offer on their rent, so to speak. Especially if Trump refuses to pay more than the next guy for the UN's kibbles and bits.
