SWEET HOME ALABAMA.
I love living here. We had a mild winter. No hard freezes, and the dogwood trees are already in full bloom. Having lived in Boston and Chicago, I must admit that I really love it here. On top of that, it's an open carry state. What's not to love?

Sounds great but in Illinois it is 64 out right now and I am on a parallel with Chicago about 90 miles do west.

I grew up in Mass, and I don't miss the winters. My family and I are now living in South Texas, and we are still waiting for winter.
We love it here!

I believe Texas is also a open carry state. There's one place, I can't remember where. You can buy firearms on the internet without a background check. You also do not require a license for a concealed weapon. And guess what? They have a very low crime rate. One of the lowest in the country. Kinda shoots the gun control myths to hell, doesn't it?

I used to live on the tri state of Florida,Georgia, and Good old Alabama, moved to Phoenix AZ. for better income. Wish I Stayed where I was happiest ,along the Chattahoochee river in my little boat with a fishing pole and a "Gater" to see from time to time.
I was born & raised in The Soviet Republic of New York City of The People's Republic of New York, where anyone to the right of Abdrew Cuomo was regarded as a John Bircher. I spent more of my life in The People's Republic of Rhode Island with its taxes among the highest in the country and the welfare allowance is the highest in the country. Here in Jacksonville Florida there is only about three months of the northeast's October. There is welfare but even the people on welfare seem to be seeking work. In New York and New England, it's a way of life to be sought and an Aid to Families with Dependent Children case is a permanent ticket to smoke cigarettes all day, watch TV and exchange benefits for drugs, booze and various 'favors.' The incentive for indolence is irresistible.
When our son applied to a trade school, he was told that were he a minority or a woman with an illegitimate kid, he'd have bundles of loans and financing available.

I am old school as I always wanted to see, handle, and examine a firearm before laying down cold hard cash.

As far as I know, it's perfectly legal. It is not uncommon for certain things online to restricted in some places, and available in others. It's still illegal for a felon to buy a gun, but how often does that happen? The vast majority are stolen, or bought on the black market. Besides, 5 times more people are murdered by knives than rifles. And some idiots want to ban "Assault Rifles". Go figure.
Here in Va. if we buy a firearm on the internet it has to go thru a FFL. BUT, we do have a local (bi-state, NC) publication where people can list anything for sale. Garden stuff, cars, firearms, etc. You can buy a Glock, an AR or whatever with no checks what so ever. Granted most sellers want to see identification but it's not necessary. Because most sellers were back ground checked when they bought the weapon, they decimate before reselling it. We also have open and concealed carry despite being a now BLUE State thanks to Northern . Va. which is mostly Fed. employed. we need an EC here. Mike

Back in the early 70's my favorite bar sponsored four of us to go to Ga. for a wild water raft race on the Chattahoochee. What a wild time for a bunch of hard working, dope smoking, blue water sailboat racers out of Annapolis, Md. We thought it was serious, NOT. What a bunch of fun for twenty year olds. Thanks for bringing that memory back. Mike
