Now that the awkward question of when we would see a scandal has been answered. Now we can ask, will this go away or will more rise to the surface..

McConnell seems to want to run the show. So he can sweep it under the rug faster?

Or will we see a true investigation? Or maybe 8 or 9 of them.. Pretty early for that I think..

In any case, I find this somewhat amusing and will watch with interest..

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday it's "highly likely" the Senate intelligence committee will investigate former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's discussions with the Russian ambassador.

"I think the fundamental question for us is what is our involvement in it, and who ought to look at it," the Kentucky Republican said. "And the intelligence committee is already looking at Russian involvement in our election. As Sen. (Roy) Blunt has already indicated, it is highly likely they will want to take look at this episode as well. They have the broad jurisdiction to do it."
The Senate's second-ranking Republican and other GOP senators have called for an investigation into the episode, building on a string of investigations underway on Russian interference in the US elections. Sen. John Cornyn told reporters Tuesday that the Senate standing committees with oversight of intelligence needs to investigate.
Asked by CNN if he wanted the Senate's committees to investigate Flynn, Cornyn replied: "Yes."
But Cornyn, the Senate majority whip, was not ready to say Flynn should testify before Congress.
"I think it's symbolic of somebody with a distinguished military career making a bad mistake," Cornyn said of Flynn.
Flynn resigned from his position as national security adviser Monday following reports that the Justice Department warned the Trump administration last month that he misled administration officials about the nature of his conversations with the Russian ambassador and whether they addressed the issue of sanctions.
The conversations occurred before he was an official government employee, causing some to fear that he was potentially vulnerable to blackmail by the Russians for covering up details of the exchanges. It is illegal for unauthorized private citizens to negotiate with foreign governments on behalf of the US.

Perma-much more serious than that is having highly classified material on an unsecured server for anyone
to access. Now that is what needs to be investigated thoroughly ,and those responsible held accountable, as it involves national security. We have a real AG now and he needs to appoint a special prosecutor soon. What Flynn did was speak out of turn which is minuscule compared to what Hillary did. America First !!!

Are you really that hard up for stuff to throw at the wall that you have to push something as stupid as this. If you want to complain about hobnobbing with the communists why don't you complain about Obama and Castro? You guys are really getting to be ridiculous. Wow!

Your man hob nobs with the enemy of generations and you are fine with it...

Open up trade with a nearby nation and you toss a fit..

The orange man has nothing for you or the working people of this nation.

He is working for the banks and is own wallet..

In a condemnatory post on his Facebook page, veteran journalist Dan Rather slammed the legitimacy of the Trump administration in the wake of revelations surrounding ex-National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

“The White House has no credibility on this issue,” Rather wrote. “Their spigot of lies – can we finally all agree to call them lies – long ago lost them any semblance of credibility.”

“We need an independent investigation,” he added. “Damn the lies, full throttle forward on the truth.

“[This] is real and it is serious. Deadly serious. We deserve answers and those who are complicit in this scandal need to feel the full force of justice.”

This Monday, Flynn resigned after news broke that he misled senior White House officials, including Vice President Mike Pence, about details surrounding wiretapped phone conversations with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Flynn allegedly assured Kislyak that sanctions imposed by then-President Obama would be eased.

Flynn blamed the “fast pace of events” leading up to the White House transition for giving Pence and other officials “incomplete information” regarding the conversation. Pence had initially denied Flynn discussed the sanctions with the Russian ambassador, but evidence later contradicted his claims.

In his Facebook post, Rather said that the scandal surrounding Flynn could be bigger than Watergate.

“Watergate is the biggest political scandal of my lifetime, until maybe now,” he wrote. “It was the closest we came to a debilitating Constitutional crisis, until maybe now.”

“And we may look back and see, in the end, that it is at least as big as Watergate… It may become the measure by which all future scandals are judged.”

It is so funny to watch the turn-around of you lefties. You give a complete pass to the Clinton Foundation and all the lies and e-mail scandals of Hillary, the philandering of Bill and the lies and misdeeds of BHO and you bitch when an appointee of Trump has the audacity to talk with a Russian official. It's fine if Obama lifts all the sanctions on Cuba and gives millions of tax dollars to Iran. What the H are you using for brains?

Russian ambassador confirms pre-election talks with Michael Flynn
02/14/17 04:06 PM
By Steve Benen
Much of the recent discussion surrounding Michael Flynn, Russia, and Donald Trump’s team have focused on the events that unfolded after the election. It’s easy to understand why.

Flynn spoke to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the transition; the two apparently spoke about U.S. sanctions; White House officials spent quite a bit of time telling the nation things about those conversations that weren’t true; and the National Security Advisor was forced to resign after three weeks on the job.

But let’s not overlook what happened before the election.

Multiple reports indicated late last week that Michael Flynn spoke to the Russian ambassador before Americans cast their ballots. This is consistent with what Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in the fall, when he said “there were contacts” between the Russian government and Trump’s campaign team ahead of Nov. 8.

The latest Washington Post report, published overnight, includes a rare official confirmation from the Russian ambassador that he did, in fact, speak with Flynn before the U.S. Election Day.
U.S. intelligence reports during the 2016 presidential campaign showed that Kislyak was in touch with Flynn, officials said. Communications between the two continued after Trump’s victory on Nov. 8, according to officials with access to intelligence reports on the matter.

Kislyak, in a brief interview with The Post, confirmed having contacts with Flynn before and after the election, but he declined to say what was discussed.

Dan Rather lost his lofty position in the news media because he got caught making up the news. He promoted a story (fake news) about G W bush's record with the National Guard that was entirely fabricated...he was run out of the news business because of this remember ????? This was when the MSM had some ethics and fake news was not a staple of the left...
