To answer this question, we must go back to the beginning of time. Lucifer was the highest angel of Heaven. He allowed jealousy and pride to enter his heart, and it lead him to rebel against God. He actually wanted to replace God. His pride would not allow him to settle for second best.

So, the answer to this question is that people reject God because of the sin of pride. They might claim other reasons, but the root cause is pride.

They refuse to admit that they are a sinner because of pride.
They refuse to bow down to God and humble themselves because of pride.
They refuse to ask God to forgive them because, in their pride, they feel that they have nothing that needs forgiveness.

So, you see, it all boils down to pride. It's as simple as that.

Sometimes the ignorance of an atheist continues to surprise me. I'm going to apply the KISS principle (keep it simple stupid) when commenting to you. Ready? There are two types of sinners, the Christian who is contrite for his sins and seeks forgiveness from Him who gave up His life for the forgiveness of sin, and then there is you. If Christians weren't sinners we would have no need of Christ. Whatever gave you the idea that we are self righteous and do not see ourselves as egregious sinners? Oh, I think I know. The very fact that we call behavior you practice a sin. We didn't make the rules and frequently we don't follow them very well ourselves. But we keep on trying all our lives.

Sorry, but that's a cop out. There are plenty of examples of true Christians out there. You cannot blame this on someone else. The fact is that people reject God because they simply refuse to accept the fact that they need Him. Their pride will not allow it. And your claim that more hate, judgement, ridicule and censure comes from Christians than any other group is simply ludicrous.
