I have a different position than blaming/supporting those we elect. How is it we continue to elect some of the problems and not the solutions to our Democracy?

The issue to me is U.S. society, their collective ethics, their collective use of DECEIT, their actions of what is "acceptable" and "unacceptable" conduct?

DECEIT, is "unacceptable" conduct to me. I cannot support, vote for, endorse any person who participates in DECEIT. Once a person has LIED to me, it is difficult if not impossible for them to get me to believe them again. Why do you think government lies to you? Because they are rewarded for doing so, you reward them.

A person LIED to you and somehow such conduct is excused therefore "acceptable conduct"! He/she is given a "pass" on their LIE. What does that make you? Yes, makes you a LIAR and not only unacceptable conduct, but an unacceptable person. This is NOT a point of view or political side you happen to be on (Democrat or Republican). This is "Ethics", or in this case "Deceit", is the entire issue!

#1 issue is NOT any loyalty to being a Republican or Democrat. If that person is doing something now you happen to support or like, you are still endorsing/supporting a LIAR. You only need 1 issue, and besides, you don't know if the other person would do something you also support. No matter what that person does in the future, you didn't know at the time, you are still supporting a LIAR. Think about it! If a person is killing Social Security (in example) he/she already LIED to you, who is the gullible? Who is the sheep? Who are the sheep?

All the lying that hits us from all sides government, media (TV, radio, print) all have a different issue they believe endorses or allows them to LIE to you, meaning they want YOU to be active, involved in whatever they want.

I personally unsubscribed to e-mails I received that LIED to me. I can no longer support them due to the LIE.

I personally researched Education nominee Betsy DeVoe and her participation in the Senate confirmation. Yes, she did LIE. She should have known that me, or anyone else, can obtain a copy of the tax exempt form 990 required to be filed every year by non-profits. Minutes of meetings by non-profits can be obtained. Yes, she actively participated in Board meetings of the non-profit.

Here is proof to YOU that your government, Democracy is no longer a Democracy, it is Fascism, Socialism, anything but a Democracy. WHY IS IT THAT THE CAPITOL POLICE HAVE NOT ARRESTED BETSY DEVOE FOR PERJURY? What has happened to your country is a direct result of YOUR inaction of what is acceptable conduct.

Are we a country based upon equality?
Are we a country where the rule of law is applied equally across all sections of our society?

Even me, an average person, without a law degree has video testimony, proof of approved minutes of a non-profit and POW guilty in a court of law for perjury. Prison time for me and most anyone else, but the law is applied differently or given a pass to other people. Are you part of that?

People may yell and scream at me for what I wrote. They don't like their beliefs to be challenged, meaning they are too im-mature or even brain-dead to some for a refusal to accept the facts. Merely because someone says so (even me) does not make it true or without DECEIT unless you research yourself. You are expected to be an adult, if you are an "Ethical" adult or not is your call. If you dislike branches of your government LYING to you (they are also lying to me) then prove to yourself that your Country is more important to you than any loyalty to a political party. This also proves a political party wanting to keep you active and the means they use is DECEIT.

President George Washington stated YOU (U.S. society) should expect every word from your government is a LIE requiring you to verify for yourself. Founding Father Thomas Payne (author of the historical book Common Sense) stated Government is the necessary evil of society.

Back at you! Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?

Who created the divisiveness we see now? Democratic and Republican politicians. Why did they do it? To facilitate their own agendas. I doubt anyone could honestly deny this assessment, note I said "honestly". That being the case, I am mystified at the number of people so willing to play their games, at the expense of their own needs, wants and happiness. If no one in your family is seeking an abortion, why is it such a critical issue for you? If such worries about children are so paramount, for so many people, why do we still have children starving, dying of disease and homeless? Mostly, it's because politicians haven't included THAT issue in their rhetorical tirade.

This leads me to think that people don't actually give serious thought to these issues, they just respond to the emotional content of the various rhetoric. I recall an East Coast Congressman, who ran as a staunch Christian Conservative lauding family values and railed against abortion, who later was caught getting his mistress an abortion. This was an egregious violation of all he allegedly stood for, his campaign platform, and a betrayal of his constituents - yet - they re-elected him. Why on earth would they do that? Either they didn't really believe in family values and the horror of abortion as they claim, they simply weren't paying attention, or they preferred a liar over the other party's candidate.

How many republicans can really claim to have been directly harmed by democrats? How many democrats can make the claim they were directly harmed by republicans? Very few, if any, can make that claim - legitimately. That means, we are fighting over virtual issues, potential harms, fictitious problems. Who benefits from these fake issues? Politicians, lawyers, think tanks, superPAC's......................... That should be the only clue people need to knock it off and stop playing THEIR games.

Excellent! I can comment from personal experience. I spent years in D.C. even turned-down a Lobbying job when I left (big bucks too, my wife still gives me hell over it) but my personal "Ethics" means more to me than it does to who offered me the job. Funny, they said they were tired of fighting me and want me on their side.

DECEIT, as you described from your Christian Congressman. These elected people are NOT our LEADERS they are our FOLLOWERS. You proved it yourself. He said whatever he felt necessary to get elected. The gullible society bought it. We hate what our Legislative/Executive Branches of our government do, but we turn around and elect them locally. Once a person has LIED to me, well that's it, I won't have anything more to do with him/her, certainly don't believe them. All I need is 1 issue, 1 time lying to me and that's it.

These people are doing such because WE as a collective group consider DECEIT as acceptable conduct, hence vote them in again and again (career politicians).

People tell me such is NOT reality expecting honesty and ethics from our politicians. My response is they are acting (remember FOLLOWERS) as we find acceptable. We reward them for lying.

Is the U.S. a country based upon equality?

Can our politicians be purchased by money? (big money donations to political campaigns then favors are returned, positions changed. Money is more important than people.)

Then answer, who are we if our country is not based upon equality?
Who are we if our country is not based upon equal application of the law?
Whatever your answer is, it certainly is not Democracy!

Well said. I have talked about dishonesty, deceit many times on OPP and there are many who feel it's not a big problem. I stop having conversations with them at that point. If telling the truth is no big deal (which I always felt was Hillary's downfall or dismay) it's over, for me anyway. Why talk to someone who says they have several degrees, own several pieces of real estate, have a wife who is the Dean of some affluent University and in the next breath tell you how Hillary is the poster gal for ethics and integrity. They have no credibility.
