Merry Christmas! I know, not PC but I just have not gotten Happy Holidays as words that come natural.

I would like to know, and due to my newness to this site, who should I avoid? I am here to respond and discuss things, and I am not here to be pushed around or push anyone else.

Who are your brightest? Who do you think I can learn from? Who consistently post information worth reading and to whom I would want to respond?

Welcome.... talk to anyone you'd like,,, but you must be able to back up your positions,,, some people take that for being pushed,,,, don't shy away from anyone,,, you will learn to stand up for yourself,,, and there are a lot of people here with a lot of different experiences,,,

Try to be civil, but don't be a doormat...

You have the right to your opinions,,, but others have the right to question them,,,, the trick is to convince others,,,

Pick a topic that seems to interest you,,, read a few entries and jump right in...

Oh,, and Merry Christmas,,, especially if it offends someone!!

Very sage advice! I am here to exchange ideas and to learn. I am not necessarily here to make everlasting friendships, but should it happen that would be lovely.

fascinating! I had no intent of apologizing with my greeting. Just an admittance that I am not comfortable with Happy Holidays. I have followed the Duck Dynasty thing with mild interest. I do have an opinion, but I think that I noticed a thread that I will read before I add, or not, a comment.

I am religious, so I always leave Christ in my Christmas.

There is no shame in being yourself! I will be myself, and if I step on a toe or two .... so be it. I will always be civil, and when I am wrong, I will not have a problem saying so. There is no pretense in me....

I appreciate your advice and will take it to heart.

First, welcome and Merry Christmas to you as well. You asked who we thought you could learn from and the answer is "everyone". Some will provide perspective that you hadn't thought of, enough to give you pause and to reflect on what you "thought" was your belief, others will insult you (my skin has gotten thicker), making you challenge yourself on whether you actually walk the walk or talk it, and others yet will give you a perspective that you might not agree with in any way, shape, or form, but it will give you a window into their souls. If you give well thought out responses to challenges, more often than not, you will at least have the challenger's grudging respect. If you invoke labels, be absolutely sure of their meaning in pure form. How naïve I was truly when I uttered the word "liberal", thinking it was commendable and meant broadminded!! :lol: Enjoy the ride!! It can be addictive!! I read your response to oldroy re EPA and lead. I am curious. What is your background? I actually looked up a couple of the elements (?) you mentioned because I did not recognize them at all and, don't laugh, but I began to wonder if you had made them up :lol: Yep, jokes on me. :oops: Oh, did I mention all the banter back and forth makes you look far more critically at the substance contained in posts!! Thank you for the advice. I respect your honesty! You asked my background. Formal education or what I have learned from living? Formal education is ongoing, likewise my hunger for learning as I travel through this life. You mention that you thought I had made up some of the elements, that is funny! I am not known for "kidding" or "pulling one's leg." As a fact, I am not known for my humor....perhaps something I need to work on. My friends have put me on warning to let them know if I am joking. Not very attractive side of my personality. Of note, my skin is very thick and should I make a mistake I will admit it -- a strength and not to be considered a weakness. I had considered "liberal" in the same terms as you, so do not think you were wrong; the failing was those who did not ask you for a definition before they jumped up and yelled.
