Thankfully Obama is no longer in charge and at noon today the CC information on the WH website disappeared.

I have been reading an article about CO2 emission from the Yellowstone Caldera. It says annually the Caldera dumps about 44 million tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. That's about 10 times the output of a medium coal-fired power plant.

This article was talking about the fact that there was a study done recently that showed a dramatic surge in CO2 emission at the Caldera and that kicked off another study that recently revealed the existence of a much larger magma chamber directly below the magma chamber that they knew was there. This new magma chamber is approximately four and a half times bigger than the one they already knew about. Apparently there have been 40 seismic disturbances at the Caldera just in June alone of 2016 and they're still ongoing. This article was discussing the concern over the possibility of a coming event because they say that the increase in CO2 emission could be related to a fissure opening between the newer huge magma chamber and the smaller one on top, and they fear that this may show a weakening somewhere, increasing pressure that could result in an event. Of course it was looking at worst-case scenario in which the much of the country is covered in 10 centimeters of ash, crops die during the short-term, and we are thrust into a global cooling because the sun energy would be impeded. I'm sure that if any event happened it would not be of the supervolcanic order. At least I pray so. That would be catastrophic. 640,000 years ago Yellowstone Caldera exploded with eight thousand times the power of Mount Saint Helens. Not good.

It's something I plan to try to keep informed on. It took me by surprise because I had just finished reading another paper claiming that we are nowhere near any type of the event at Yellowstone in this century.

You need to keep informed I'v been buying freeze dried food because some of the articles I'v read states yellow stone is a mega volcano and if it does go it will be bad. If you look at the activity between earth quakes and volcanoes they have been busy this last two months with at least 10 volcanoes becoming active and going off some in the know have wondered why the media in this country havent picked it up. Not surprised that yellow stone has been keeping secrets I dont think that they worried about it till about 5 years ago and they started finding some animals near water holes dead from gas emissions let off . I'm glad I live in Georgia wouldnt want to be near the west cost there are more then just yellow stone Rainier is made them sit up and mount saint helen sure isnt dead. They felt some tremors in tacoma washington this month. Earth quakes in phillipines/oaxaca mexico/michocan mexico off shore/chiapas mexico/guerrero mexico/ chile/columbia/-----volcanoes in vanuatu Islands/ northern sumatra/ George town penang/ alor setar melaysia/benastagi indonisia/bukit lawang sumatra/Tasbi medan indonsia/ nadi fiji. that my friend is a lot of activity by the way where do you live cause hope didnt scare the know what out of ya that was not my intent

The magma dome is 4.5 miles deep so I doubt fracking is to blame...lol. Maybe before noon Friday Obama will EO it to be a world crime if it blows due to the CO2 emissions.

The ground has risen 38 cm since 2005. Not good. The experts say Vesuvius is a pimple compared to Campi Flegrei. It is capable of wiping out Europe. Vesuvius was rated at VEI 2. Many more people live near Naples compared to Vesuvius so even a milder eruption would be catastrophic in lives lost. The major problem is that most of it is off shore in the sea bed and the volcanologists and geophysicists say that the water/lava explosion is much more powerful than just lava alone.

Flegrei last erupted 39,000 years ago and is rated at the same power/destruction level as Krakatoa. VEI 7.

It's big. However, the last rating I've seen for the Yellowstone Caldera rated it as a VEI 10+. That is potential extinction level. World extinction.

Worst case scenario for Flegrei is all Europe including the Great Britan area.

Okay. I've bored you enough. Sorry.

Not boring at all.
Thankyou for your Insight 😆

Jakarta nearly wiped out homosapiens.
It's why we have so much common DNA.
Close to 96+ % of humans died out after the eruption.

Yes, the genetic bottleneck theory. I believe the most regressive mutation evolved into liberals.

The Yellowstone hotspot had a similar if not larger event about 2.1 million years ago. The Toba event threw out an estimated 6 gigatons of sulphur dioxide. Any survival is miraculous.
