Assigning A Subjective Value To A Human Life

Larry the Legend Loc: Not hiding in Milton

Apparently, the subjective value of human life very much depends on your religious faith: "If there is no God, human beings are only material beings – and therefore not worth anything beyond the matter of which they are composed". Ouch. My inner narcissist just blew a gasket.

However, there is an alternative view:

"[O]r we are created in the image of God and therefore infinitely valuable." That's better, inner narcissist much happier now.

How did I get into this? Check this out:

Religion is not just the 'superstition' you support and will defend to the death, it is also the basis of your moral compass and thus assigns a greater value to human life than any other: "Only by rejecting Judeo-Christian values could Nazis declare Jews, Slavs, and others 'sub-human.' And only by rejecting Judeo-Christian values could Communist regimes slaughter those they call 'class enemies.' Individual human life meant nothing."

"For Nazism, Jews and members of other 'non-Aryan' groups were declared worthless and murdered in the millions," Prager says. "For Communists, human worth was determined solely by Communist parties, which murdered tens of millions of people."

Because we believe in an 'invisible man' who lives in the sky and 'sees' everything we do, and has these 10 rules that he wants us to follow, us Judeo-Christians have lives that are valued at infinity due to our being created in His image.

So take that, all you atheists and non-believers, not only are you wrong, but your lives are assigned a worth of... Zero! Yay Judeo-Christians! We win again!

As a Christian it profoundly saddens me that all these misguided people are denying or rejecting God. And the evil done by Godless, amoral systems should make them open their eyes, but many still think that system failed because the wrong Godless man or woman was trying to implement it, yet they never blame the failed ideology

Larry, I know what your trying to say, I think, but must say this because it's what I believe...

If all people were made in the image of God, then we are all worth the same..

If God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for all humanity then that means all people..

I do not profess any knowledge greater than anyone else as it relates scripture, because there is such variation to it depending on who is reciting it..

I know this, God is love and gives us L❤VE and free will or choice...

In the end how we treated others and lived our life defines our rewards when called...

"I simply believe"....

While I may not agree with atheists, etc, I do believe in their personal decision and that it is a matter for them or for me it would be a matter between God and I...I hope their choice is our Father above once they have made their final choice, if one is to be made at all....
