Some info on electric cars that you do not know. From a friend.

Chevy Volt
Very interesting!

As a "joke", my Chevy dealer gave me a Volt as a loaner while my full-size pick-up was getting some attention. He thought it was funny to give his energy company CEO this thing here on Vancouver Island! I live 30 kilometers outside of Victoria near Sidney.

The battery was dead - later he admitted they almost never charged it. While the car was "OK", on gasoline, it was pretty anemic. So for the extra money, even taking into account Chev rebates and Provincial incentives, you get an under-powered, heavy car that felt "too small" for its actual size (battery has to go somewhere).

Now the kicker: at a neighborhood barbecue, I was talking to a Neighbor, a BC Hydro executive. I asked him how that renewable thing was doing. He laughed, then got serious. If you really intend to adopt electric vehicles, he pointed out, you had to face certain realities. For example, a home charging system for a Tesla requires 75 amp service.

The average house is equipped with 100 amp service. On our small street (approximately 25 homes), the electrical infrastructure would be unable to carry more than 3 houses with a single Tesla, each. For even half the homes to have electric vehicles, the system would be wildly over-loaded.

This is the elephant in the room with electric vehicles ... Our residential infrastructure cannot bear the load. So as our genius elected officials ram this nonsense down our collective throats, not only are we being forced to buy the damn things and replace our reliable, cheap generating systems with expensive, new windmills and solar cells, but we will also have to renovate our entire delivery system! This latter "investment" will not be revealed until we're so far down this dead end road that it will be presented with an oops and a shrug.

If you want to argue with a green person over cars that are Eco-friendly, just read the below:

Note: However, if you ARE the green person, read it anyway. Enlightening.

Eric test drove the Chevy Volt at the invitation of General Motors...and he writes...For four days in a row, the fully charged battery lasted only 25 miles before the Volt switched to the reserve gasoline engine.

Eric calculated the car got 30 mpg including the 25 miles it ran on the battery. So, the range including the 9 gallon gas tank and the 16 kWh battery is approximately 270 miles.

It will take you 4 1/2 hours to drive 270 miles at 60 mph. Then add 10 hours to charge the battery and you have a total trip time of 14.5 hours. In a typical road trip your average speed (including charging time) would be 20 mph.

According to General Motors, the Volt battery holds 16 kWh of electricity. It takes a full 10 hours to charge a drained battery. The cost for the electricity to charge the Volt is never mentioned so I looked up what I pay for electricity. I pay approximately (it varies with amount used and the seasons) $1.16 per kWh. 16 kWh x $1.16 per kWh = $18.56 to charge the battery.

$18.56 per charge divided by 25 miles = $0.74 per mile to operate the Volt using the battery. Compare this to a similar size car with a gasoline engine that gets only 32 mpg. $3.19 per gallon divided by 32 mpg = $0.10 per mile.

The gasoline powered car costs about $15,000 while the Volt costs $46,000.........So the American Government wants proud and loyal Americans not to do the math, but simply pay 3 times as much for a car, that costs more than 7 times as much to run, and takes 3 times longer to drive across the country.....

My son lives on a long street (roughly) 44 homes, 5 Volts are on the street, again roughly 4 out of 7 nights he loses complete power. This time of the year very few use A/C but come April/May this will become a major problem, already been many fights and this only doing to get worse. We had one in the whole neighborhood and they had their tire slashed several times ad they did move.

Presently China has a train that is powered by magnetism . It runs at speeds in excess of 400 kilometers per hour. Very few know this, but there are even more sophisticated systems powered by magnets running underground here in America. These trains can go from LA to NY in about 45 minutes, believe it or not. That's only a small sample of what is available right now. This technology will never be given to you is this lifetime. The west is driven solely by profit. That is precisely why the west is collapsing and will completely collapse very soon.

I just bought my third Toyota Prius, Before I had a 2005,and a 2007 prius,I just bought a 2015 Prius, with ONLY 6441 miles on it,for $12,000 cash,With all 3 of my Priuses,I averaged about 45.4 mpg, BUT,IF,I drive 15 MPH,I can get 99 MPG ( I only drove 15 MPH,to see what the milage would be,) the 2015 Prius gets about 48-49 mpg. If you dont like the Prius,DONT BUY ONE,But,I love them...OH,BTW, The ONLY problem I ever had, was, with my 2007 prius,I had to buy a 12 volt, engine starting battery, cost was $149.00.To Prius owners, there are 24 individual battery cells,in the big battery, you can go to EBAY,and buy a single cell for, between $35,00 and $45.00,There is a YOU TUBE video, that shows you HOW to check, which cell (or more than one) and how to replace that cell,VERY SELDOM,does more than 1 cell die.

For this to happen this train to go from LA to NY in about 45 minutes, it would have to go over MACH 3, this would set the train on fire at sea level. Only the SR71 can do that at 80,000 feet and it's skin is or 200 F.
You should stop smoking that shit.

Not in my lifetime, when why would I care

The "fastest" train commercial service can be defined alternatively by a train's top speed or average trip speed.
The fastest train service measured by peak operational speed is the Shanghai Maglev Train which can reach 431 km/h (268 mph). Due to the limited length of the Shanghai Maglev track (30 km)(18.6 mi), the maglev train's average trip speed is only 245.5 km/h (152.5 mph).
The fastest train service measured by average trip speed from 2009 until 2011 was on the Wuhan-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, where from December 2009 until July 1, 2011, the CRH3/CRH2 coupled-train sets averaged 312.5 km/h (194.2 mph) on the 922 km (573 mi) route from Wuhan to Guangzhou North. However, on July 1, 2011 in order to save energy and reduce operating costs, the maximum speed of Chinese high-speed trains was reduced to 300 km/h, and the average speed of the fastest trains on the Wuhan-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway was reduced to 272.68 km/h (169 mph).
The top speed attained by a non-maglev train in China is 487.3 km/h (302.8 mph) by a CRH380BL train on the Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway during a testing run on January 10, 2011
