If Russia, what really was their purpose??

Now that Trump has seen the "top secret" evidence refused to even members of Congress, it seems they are somewhat convinced, if loosely, of Russian involvement. (I hope they know that hackers can leave the foot prints of other hackers and are very good at leading a merry chase down the rabbit hole, so to speak.)

But if Russia, Putin and now RT, DID interfere with America's election, what was their ultimate purpose? A takeover of the American government? What really was their plan?? Do they now have access to our "grid?"

Never mind the content of the hacked material. Was there another motivation other than messing with an American election?? And now, what's next??

nwtk-Exactly ! Believe Russians are smart enough not to leave an evident foot print. Whomever hacked possibly arranged to point the finger at Russia. DNC hacked in early 2015-why where they not warned by our intel and allowed to be hacked in 2016? This smells of politics and the Benghazi video. Our grid is vulnerable to hacking by anyone with such capabilities. Our government has been hacked many times since 2008 and nothing has been done to protect our systems. Maybe Pres. Trump will take action. Good Luck America !!!

You do not see the purpose? Really? News had it that Russian higher ups danced at Trump's election. Like gamblers trying to make the best odds for their favorite. Get one player in a game to blow some points. Not a guarantee but an edge. They were playing for an edge to get Trump, with heavy investments in Russia and their mutual admiration society, elected. Hillary would not be so receptive.

Do you libs ever look at it like this; if there wasn't any damning evidence in those emails, would the hacking have made a difference?? No. You just see the hack and since your girl lost, proclaim that caused the election to be lost. I am so sure that the content had no effect. LOL! Democratic voters, upon hearing that Russia hacked DNC computers and Hillary's unsecured server, decided to go with Trump. The content of those emails wasn't important!

Right. That being said, don't you see what Russia might have actually been up to here?? Create controversy during an American election and possibly even sway voters if you're lucky, but create a diversion at the very least! Thee is something deeper going on here.

It doesn't even pass the smell test.
How does another country "hack" an election to change the results?
Hacking the DNC is NOT the same as hacking an election.
The truth is that Russian would have much preferred Hillary over Trump on almost every metric.
Blaming Russia for Hillary's loss is just a convenient way for her to save face.
Trump will oversee the funding of a much more muscular robust defense department.
Hillary would have cut funding for the military back even more.
Hillary would replicate Obama's "red line" policy wherein Obama continually moved the red line back as aggressive tyrant regimes tested the resolve of the United States. Trump will have a no-nonsense foreign policy which will tolerate no testing by adventuresome tyrants.
The myth that Russian "hacked" our election is just another tempest in a teapot created by the looney left which can't accept the fact that Trump beat Hillary.
Oh Happy Day!!

I know, right! As if hacking is the effect not the info released by the hack.

But hacking is a significant intrusion. If not to effect an election, what for? All the way back to 2008, which apparently didn't raise eyebrows to any degree, what are they looking for? As I told my future son in-law, what are your intentions??

We have an open internet so they have access to pretty much anything they want and their purpose was to put in power someone who was friendly to their objectives--rolling back sanctions and not meddling in Russia's attempt to regain its lost territory. But most importantly, Putin doesn't want an American president who would be opposed to his mythology in gaining and maintaining power. This was his biggest issue with Hillary as she helped to expose his brutality in suppressing the press and his political opponents--Trump see's this as an legitimate use of power and will likely turn his back.

Below is an article detailing Putin's bad blood with Hillary...

You think Russia's actions in Ossetia was regaining lost territory? They could have taken Georgia simply enough. They could talk Ukraine if they wanted to. Why don't they? Because Russia isn't trying to rebuild the USSR, duh.

YES WE DID!!

Too bad for you!!

Remember Nazi Germany? How do you think caring Germans received news of what was happening in THEIR OWN country?

I'll tell you: through the news sources of other countries, gained surreptitiously. Welcome to Nazi Germany, DD.

nwtk2007, I have to believe the entire intelligence community agreeing on Russia's interference in our Presidential election has got to be the case. Putin has been cozying up to the Donald since his winning the nomination. From what I understand, Putin had no love for the Clintons. From what I can see, he figured out that the Donald had a huge ego, ( which he does ) and used that ego to manipulate Trump. He has done this kind of interference before in the Ukraine, Georgia, Italy and the United Kingdom. He has tried to get candidates elected in other countries by hacking and giving out false information on the candidates he thinks would be hostile to some of Russia's land grabs and other aggressive steps that Russia has taken.
