rump comes up with a brand new response to the Russia scandal
12/29/16 09:41 AM—UPDATED 12/29/16 09:44 AM
By Steve Benen
Seventeen U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded that Russia intervened in the American presidential election, in part because Vladimir Putin’s government wanted Donald Trump in the White House. In response to the revelations, the president-elect and his transition team have come up with all kinds of various reactions.

Some of the more notable responses include Trump’s mockery of U.S. intelligence officials, his attempts to blame different countries for the cyber attack, his assertion that the hack may not have happened at all, and his team’s insistence that questions themselves shouldn’t be asked because they undermine Trump’s legitimacy.

But despite all of these head-shaking gems, the president-elect yesterday rolled out a new line yesterday during an impromptu Q&A with reporters, which was probably the most hilarious to date.

Someone asked Trump about several senators, most notably Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), pushing for a thorough investigation into the Russia scandal. The president-elect responded by noting – twice – that he ran against Graham in the GOP presidential primaries, as if that were relevant.

In a follow-up, Trump was asked about possible economic sanctions against Russia in general. He replied:
“I think we ought to get on with our lives. I think that computers have complicated lives very greatly. The whole, you know, age of computer has made it where nobody knows exactly what’s going on. We have speed, we have a lot of other things, but I’m not sure we have the kind the security that we need.”
Um, what?

There’s evidence that a foreign adversary attacked an American election, stole American materials, and launched an espionage operation to help elect their preferred, allied candidate. The beneficiary of foreign intervention has a new position: “I think we ought to get on with our lives” because computers “have complicated lives.”

Obviously, Trump’s answer is the worst kind of word salad, but let’s not miss the bigger picture here: the president-elect is signaling weakness to the world. Trump, presented with evidence that a foreign adversary attacked the United States, doesn’t seem to care in the slightest, and instead of responding, his plan is to simply move on, thankful that the alleged Russian espionage was in his favor.

Does it matter to you, frosty, that what was exposed in the DNC hacked emails was the FACT that the DNC and clinton campaign were conspiring against Senator Sanders and Trump no matter who the hacker was (no proof has ever been shown that it was the Russians, even Assange said it was not them)? Does the FACT the Clinton, Podesta and Wasserman-Schultz were exposed as crooked matter to you and the rest of the moonbats?

permamelt-your source is just about as valid as an Obama promise. Steve Benen lol lol lol lol MSNBC/Rachel Maddow-grow up. You got your butt whipped and are too chicken little to take it like a man so you act like a petulant little girl. There isn't any proof what-so-ever, as of now, that the Russians were involved in feeding Wiki Leaks. We will know only after a thorough investigation is completed. Whoever gave Wiki Leaks the damning information deserves our thanks for exposing the most corrupt candidate to ever run for POTUS (the democrat's best) and preventing her from the continued selling of America for self enrichment. The election was not affected in any manner except that recounts added votes for Trump. The world already knows that Trump will tell it like it is and he is not one they can play games with. We have a successful businessman replacing an immature school boy. Trump does not have time to discuss the last minute knee jerk actions of a vindictive child and his failed administration and will take care of things when he assumes the presidency. Israel will be protected and Utah will get its land back and ,upon completion of high level discussions between the leaders of the USA and Russia, the Russian diplomats will return to the USA from a Holiday vacation. Subsequently, Trump will go to work for the American people. Good Luck America !!!

buff,

are you starting a stupid contest with AO?

The issue is not what was revealed, that was the purpose and has been long done.. The problem is that an enemy of ours for generations intruded in our election process for the purpose of getting the president they wanted. Rather one elected impartially by American voters..

You guys won the election, but keep whining and crying about the man still in office for 4 more weeks.. you must still be suffering somehow...

The question now is what President-elect Donald Trump will do when he takes office in less than a month.
After all, Trump's acquiescent attitude towards anything having to do with Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, is so baffling, so dismissive of American institutions and arguably of the country's interests, that it has become the most corrosive point of contention between Trump and members of his own party.
On Thursday, Obama issued an executive order that, among other things, expels 35 Russian intelligence operatives and shuts down two Russian compounds in the US. The text of the executive order describes the strong sanctions as "steps to deal with the national emergency with respect to significant malicious cyber-enabled activities ... to undermine democratic processes and institutions."
US security agencies have been in agreement that Russian-backed hackers deliberately stole emails from the Democratic National Committee and from Hillary Clinton's campaign chief John Podesta, then moved to have the private emails made public in an effort to help Trump, Putin's favored candidate, win the election.

Judging from your posts and candid comments.. You must be a reader and disciple of Bobby BS blog.... But the right wing has so many equally useless information sources that you could read dozens of them and only get one bit of the same lies repeated over and over...
