My recent summary of my S/S/ payment for year 2017 says at the top of the form: 3% raise for 2017!
Three lines later in the summary run down it takes that 3% back by charging 3% more for Medicare co-payment back to S/S !!
Boy I sure appreciate that raise a lot!!!
Are they sick or brainless or both!
Oh I forgot we deployable people shouldn't be able to figure this out!!
This is sick and shows how our present government operates , lying ,cheating etc.
And also our cost of living is going down , not up !! Yes if you use phony figures to figure it with. Like leaving out the cost of groceries and fuels!!!

I think you need to put a decimal point, not 3% it is. .3% (point three percent ) and the the full three percent increase for Medicare. So our monthly checks will go down.

Bigmac,

The cost of living increase is not 3 percent.... it is point 3 percent.... so for every $1,000 your increase will be $3.00. While your medicare copayment will increase the same amount. Medicare cannot pass along premium increases greater than the dollar increase in their Social Security checks under the hold harmless rule. Ergo... there is no cost of living increase again this year. http://kfor.com/2016/12/01/4-seniors-how-much-youll-pay-for-medicare-in-2017/

This is just another ploy to take more money from the people that had paid into SS for many years and some of us had paid this money into our late sixties or seventies. Also getting no raise or little raise for the last two years just because the price of gasoline is low is simply grievous. Other costs have gone up much more that what the cost of gasoline has saved many seniors.

That's .3
Or 3/10s of one percent.
Not quite enough to buy gas for a pissants motorcycle to run halfway around a dime.
Probably because of all the money obastard and his glutton ungrateful family used for vacations and golf
On the taxpayers dime.

My COLA adjustment this year resulted in a whopping 88 cents a month net increase. That is great! We didn't get ANY increase last year... they suspended it for that term. The CPI they use to determine the change the last three (?) years no longer includes transportation fuel or food. Which two items on your budget have increased the most lately? Groceries and gas, right?

But they are managing the funds well. When a "refugee" comes here from some blighted sandbox, he is allowed to immediately bring his Mother and Father, Grandma and Grandpa and his kids. The parents/grandparents, being of eligible age are immediately able to claim Social Security benefits even though they have never paid a dime into the program. Meanwhile, my benefits are cut to pay for these oldsters from Bumflop, Syria to draw a full pension. Now that pisses me off.

Yes I stand corrected , but it wouldn't have mattered if it was .3% or 3% I think it still would have terminated in the same total as last year !!

Only for new enrollees. Those grandfathered should see a $3 raise per $1,000 of benefit.

I don't know where you got those numbers. We haven't seen those amounts in years. My RRB pension (administered parallel to SS) went up a net of 88 cents per month for 2017 after factoring the small raise in COLA benefits and then deducting our raise in premium for Medicare. Hooray!! $0.88 !! Now I can go back to planning a Bahamas vacation after all.

I just received my SS adjustment for next year. I don't have to pay for drug prescription cost and still only received only .003 increase. That is a far cry from a 3% or .03%. I think we all got screwed again by this administration. That is about 16.5 cents a day. Thank God he will be gone in about 3 weeks.

Before you plan that Bahamas vacation, remember you will pay taxes on the raise you got . For me, this means that I got a reduction, not an increase.
