Though it is won by the outdated and misconceived electoral vote, the presidency has been by the majority along with the electoral vote, all except five times, ironically the last two republican presidency had been won solely by electoral vote. So, you want the election to be controlled by two states, CA and NY? No other state will have a say? Most all the leftist nutbag liberals live in CA and NY, therefore would control all elections.

Besides, you don't know how it would turn out if it was determined by only the popular vote. The campaigns would be different. Politicians campaign now for the Electoral College, not the popular vote. They campaign in fly over country and in the battleground states. If the popular vote was the determining factor, they would primarily campaign in CA and NY, the smaller states would be skipped, as they wouldn't count for that many votes.

So, it's a moot point to say if this election would have been determined by the popular vote that Hillary would still have won, you really can't say that. The campaigns would have been run altogether differently if that was the determining factor....and, whose to say that Trump would still have not won?
