Great Ad. Only, don't buy that kind of safe. Too easy to break into it. The best kind are the mechanical lock type.

I need to look into buying a good one. Now my firearms are in a homemade safe which is only a wood box with a padlock..ammo in another wood lockbox...

You don't need a safe. I carry my weapon on me all the time. Like I always say, "don't leave home without it."

Have no wish to carry a hand gun, 8 long guns of various age, calibers and usage.

Get the mechanical lock type, like this one.

The electronic lock type have been known to open by dropping them on the floor or by rapping hard them in the right spot.

Good advice, I looking at large models to accommodate long guns too. Friend of mine built his own, cement block "room" with a steel door. Very good but don`t think I need that much.. Shopping the sporting stores and even Mills Fleet Farm..lot that look good..

Should not be under the bed collecting dust bunnies. Should be under your arm or safely stashed in a holster at your waist.

Very seldom do you get a chance to go to the bedroom and retrieve a weapon.

Dear Votenoobama

My emergency carry bag contains, 1 Sig Sauer .45 (with mag), 3 back up mags, 1 flashlight, proper ID, and 1 energy bar if I get tired after shooting.
I do not need a compass - I know where I am going.

It's a good idea to keep your guns in a safe, however, there should be at least one "ready to go" at a moment's notice. It doesn't do you any good to have your protection locked up.

Actually best practice is walk around your home with weapon in waist band with clip in, but unracked. If threat shows up, just advance one into the tube and youre ready I wouldn't even use my firearm in a singular home invasion. I would pummel intruder with my fists because itd be easier for me than all the paper work of a shooting. Also, I wouldn't be happy you are in my house without my permission or could possibly be a threat, there would be no way for me to hide my feelings, I would definetly try to kill the threat quietly. My hobby is neutralization of a threat via force when avoidance wont work or isn't an option. Sure you can get hurt, but who cares, stand your ground, criminals hate resistance of any kind. Also on a side note, if someone does defend their home or loved ones with lethal force via a firearm, better off just burying perp in backyard or other rapid means to get rid do of body, because law enforcement is going to err on the side of the criminal. Better to just make disappear.

I know a woman whose father used to walk around the house with a shotgun while dressed in only underwear. Needless to say, she and her siblings took many years to recover from being raised by a paranoid abusive father. Most of Europe, Canada, and Australia just shake their heads in disbelief when they hear of the carnage (on a regular basis) caused by our lax gun laws. The only reason we even have a second amendment is this: White southern "planters" needed "citizen armed posses" to recapture runaway slaves. Their leading advocate was Mr. Patrick Henry, a rich slave owner, who wasn't about to give up his personal gravy train to anyone. His "liberty or death" drivel really meant the "liberty" to profit, handsomely, from the enslavement and misery of others. For these southern gentlemen, guns were a means to obtain obedience and compliance to their authority. Its time to repudiate the repulsive legacy of Patrick Henry, and his fellow slave owners. Even that "radical leftist" president Ronald Reagan advocated sensible gun laws. On March 29, 1991, he penned an editorial in the N.Y. Times outlining his reasons for his support of the Brady bill. Any idea of why this bill was important to him?

No one has to worry about people having guns if you behave yourself. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
