Nixon was impeached but not convicted, he resigned. Ford pardoned him and you raise an interesting point, how was Ford able to pardon someone who was not convicted? However, impeachment does not remove a President from office because he must be convicted. The writings I have seen all indicate a conviction is needed. Another interesting point, if Hillary is impeached and could possibly pardon herself she would still be prosecuted and jailed under NY state law. Her "charity" has definitely violated New York State law before and not been prosecuted but if a Rico style charge could be made Federally, it would also be illegal action in New York. Of course, this is NY, the home of the Dummycrats so I won't hold my breath.
