The Atlantic Monthly, which is one of the most respected intellectual journals in the country, has just for the third time since 1857 come out with a presidential endorsement. In an editorial on page 12 - 13 of the November issue, it has this to say about Trump.

"Donald Trump . . . has no record of public service and no qualifications for public office. His affect is that of an infomercial huckster; he traffics in conspiracy theories and racist invective; he is appallingly sexist; he is erratic, secretive and xenophobic; he expresses admiration for authoritarian rulers, and evinces authoritarian tendencies himself. He is easily goaded, a poor quality for someone seeking control of America's nuclear arsenal. He is an enemy of fact-based discourse; he is ignorant of, and indifferent to, the Constitution; he appears not to read.

"This judgment is not limited to the editors of The Atlantic. A large number -- in fact, a number unparalled since Goldwater's 1964 campaign -- of prominent policy makers and officeholders from the candidate's own party have publicly denounced him. Trump disqualified himself from public service long before he declared his presidential candidacy. In one of the more sordid episodes in modern American politics, Trump made himself the face of the so-called birther movement, which had as its immediate goal the demonization of the country's first African American president. Trump's larger goal, it seemed, was to stoke fear among white Americans of dark-skinned foreigners. He succeeded wildly in this; the fear he has aroused has brought him one step away from the presidency.

"Our endorsement of Clinton, and rejection of Trump, is not a blanket disapproval of the many Trump supporters who are motivated by legitimate anxieties about their future and their place in the American economy. But Trump has seized on these anxieties and inflamed and radicalized them, without proposing realistic policies to address them."

The article goes on to state at its end: ". . .Trump is not a man of ideas. He is a demagogue, a xenophobe, a sexist, a know-nothing, and a liar. He is spectacularly unfit for office, and voters --the statesmen and thinkers of the ballot box -- should act in defense of American democracy and elect his opponent."

Why do you believe someone's opinion is factual? Just because it's in print? How naïve.

I don't believe something is factual just because it is in print. Witness the trash talk so many of the members of this forum engage in. However, the observations of The Atlantic's editors match my own, and I believe their comments to be correct.

"Donald Trump . . . has no record of public service and no qualifications for public office."

Which means that Trump's fingerprints cannot be found anywhere on the disastrous liberal policies and onerous regulations that are destroying our CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC. He has played no part in the monstrous corruption of our governing system.

And Hillary is a liar, cheat, thief and , more than likely , murderer. She spills the beans on anything classified and said something at the debate Wednesday night that should not have been made public knowledge according to my husband, a retired military officer who took his clearance seriously. The FBI officers wanted Comey to take her clearance away and Comey, who was bought by the Clinton family years ago refused. The New Yorker magazine stands behind Trump as do many high ranking military officers who have felt it imperative to retire under this shoddy government. Now, a four star Marine General who was a fighter pilot and respected war hero LIED ONCE to the FBI and is probably going to prison. Hillary lies when the truth would fit better and those scalawags get away with lie after lie, crime after crime. This country is being sold out. Look to Europe to see your future if Hillary is elected. If you don't want to hear from me, just cut me off, but I stand my ground. I am not an ignorant, uneducated, uninformed female. The Atlantic Monthly, indeed! Look around you. Last night Hillary called the audience kissing up to her ADORABLE, but she called Trump followers deplorable and irredeemable.

Interestingly, the other two candidates endorsed by the Atlantic were elected, and both proved disastrous for the USA. The first was Abraham Lincoln, who caused the Civil War, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans and began the destruction of our Constitutional Republic, the other was Lyndon Johnson, whose welfare policies resulted in the complete destruction of the American black family structure.

I guess they love Hillary because it appears that, if she is elected, she will almost certainly complete destroy the last pieces of what was once the greatest Nation that ever existed. In other words, she will be the one that finishes what Lincoln started, the destruction of the Constitutional Republic.

A Journal respected by whom? You print a character assassination of a man you think you know all about, but it is just your opinion. Then you claim that your support of Hillary is justified, although obviously ignoring the fact that she a career criminal, and has been for years along with her husband. Her sole aim in life is power and money, not the American people. That is just my opinion. Gooooooooooooooooooo Trump!!!!!!!

Here is the perfect example of a loony-libturd, lowlife, low IQ idiot. He has to resort to personal insults because he is far too stoooooopid to make a cogent response.

The Atlantic Monthly is respected by most of the intelligent people in this country. It ios the nation's premier journal of ideas and fact. The only other rival it might have is The New Yorker Magazine. If you don't like one or the other or both, then you mark yourself as a fifth-rate ignoramus.

Saying you know Blade Runner is granting yourself way too much credit in the "nice" department. You have proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that you are incapable of sentience.
