Has Trump been the sacrificial lamb for the GOP

Very interesting how things have come about. First the vice presidential debate, which many feel Pence had won, especially for the GOP. Second step... ruin Trump and have him step down, third step, slip the desired adjunct person into place that will be president.

The hard part was getting Trump to be the key player in this conspiracy.

Really how was that hard? Feed a narcissist's ego and it's done. Who said he was part of the conspiracy and not just another political pawn?

If Trump gets ruined it is because he ruined himself. The only thing that surprises me is that people are surprised. If they had properly vetted Trump they would have seen this coming but this is what happens when people are driven by blind emotion rather than reason. It will give us Hillary as President.

Pence as vice president was the GOP's rescue remedy, now it appears he wants nothing to do with them, at least that what not supporting someone says to me.

As we speak, republicans, as in Governor Heck, are asking for Trump to step down and for a more credible candidate with integrity to step up, who would be Pence. We'll watch and see how this all play's out. If a lot of republicans prefer Pence over Trump he'll be persuaded to step down and Pence will be put in place without one vote, how convenient. Personally I think Pence would have a better chance of winning than Trump.

Emotion had nothing to do with it. Here is a list of candidates for the Republican nomination from winners to losers.

Donald Trump
John Kasich
Ted Cruz
Marco Rubio
Ben Carson
Jeb Bush
Jim Gilmore
Chris Christie
Carly Fiorina
Rick Santorum
Rand Paul
Mike Huckabee
George Pataki
Bobby Jindal
Scott Walker
Rick Perry
Jack Fellure
Andy Martin
Peter Messina
Tim Cook
Walter Iwachiw
Dennis Michael Lynch
Mark Everson
Jimmy McMillan

Some Questions:

Which of these is not part of the political establishment?
Which one promised to stop illegal invasion and send the current invaders home?
Which one promised to stop importing potential terrorists?
Which one promised to rectify trade agrrements like NAFTA and trash TPP?
Which one said he would stop the exodus of American manufacturing jobs?
Which one recognizes that black criminality is rooted in poverty and lack of education and wants to correct that?
Which one doesn't believe Americans should be disarmed?

Any of the above other than Trump?

Which one has flipped on positions more than Trump--none
Which one would have beaten Trump one on one--all
Which one would have had a better chance of beating Hillary--all

Trump's chances of beating Hillary were very good until the furor caused by his most recent gaffe.

As far as the others beating Trump, they were vying for the same position and none of them beat him. I doubt whether any embedded pol could have beat him -- the people want a change from corrupt government and all of the insiders were perceived as part of the corruption.

Flip Flopping is the stock in trade of politicians; they will say whatever it takes to get elected as evidenced by Hillary Clinton. Trump is no different in that respect.

If the Democrats had selected someone other than an ancient communist or that villainous Clinton they would have been an immediate winner.

Think so? I don't.
