http://www.cbsnews.com/news/mlk-a-riot-is-the-language-of-the-unheard/

Do you agree with this statement since your admiration of MLK is unparalleled? Consider This!

While the stores being burned are mostly national chain stores like Walgreen's, McDonald's, Auto Zone, Dollar Store, local car dealerships, and so on, they are locally owned branches or franchises in most cases. There are also some independent small businesses being torched, like Ferguson Market and Liquor. These are the places that the black residents of Ferguson shop, eat, and hopefully work at as well. At least one local businesss that was looted was clearly owned by a black couple.

And yet these local shops have promptly gone up in roaring anger and flames tonight, and probably will for nights to come.

Why do these stores attract such anger and direct action?

Yes, I know that it is probably only a few hundred mostly young black men who are making their way from store to store to pillage and burn, while 20,000 other black residents if Ferguson are protesting peacefully, or are at home, not destroying local stores. They may be at home, but trust me, there's real satisfaction being felt across the entire community at this hitting back that's going on. It's widely seen as something well deserved and a long time in coming.

'If this is what it takes to get some help for our community, to get some attention and some justice for what goes on around here, then so be it.'

So why loot stores. Why burn them to the ground?

You'd have to grow up a young black male in a place like Ferguson to grasp why these stores are the immediate, prime targets for looting and flames. There are 365 days in every year, and on every day of every year of your life you've had to walk past these cathedrals of consumer culture and see things you don't have and can't get because you have no money, no real education, and very little hope of ever being employed.

Or you grew up seeing your mother, father, sisters or brother slaving away behind the counter in one of these stores for minimum wage or less, part time workers so no health benefits could be earned, and bringing home a pittance for their family to subsist on. Maybe you've been behind the counter at Mickey D's yourself, and it did wonders for your self esteem because you did that instead of going to school, you did that to bring home a few dollars for food and rent. Dead end jobs for dead end, unwanted lives. In the land of the free.

You grew up tagging along with your mother or aunt to shop in these stores using food stamps, coupons, buying only things on sale, and putting up with the stares of the people around you who have real jobs, and can afford to shop without government assistance. And when you go alone into one of these stores, you are immediately followed to see if you're going to steal anything. If you linger or look around at all, pretty soon some bastard of a white cop will show up to take you outside and check out who you are and what you're doing in the store, boy. http://m.dailykos.com/story/2014/11/25/1347311/--Why-do-they-burn-down-their-own-neighborhood. Quotes from the Daily Koss, a Communist front publication have to be taken with a pound of salt. Having lived on my own from the day I graduated high school, living in a flop house, working days at menial jobs and going to college at night, I understood the politics of envy but decided early on to work hard and sacrifice toward my ultimate goals, and I have succeeded. However, my goals did change as I payed attention to what God told me He wanted me to do. Now, I am old not rich is material goods, but rich in spirit and love, much better things to be rich in.

Expanding on the thoughts robmull posted, the difference between the countries he mentioned and the USA is both put obstacles in the way of success. But in America anyone can step over, crawl under, walk around or even obliterate an obstacle and make their way. I get that many are supposedly oppressed by poor parenting, poor neighborhoods, crappy schools with crappier teachers and resources, and even racism. None of which are nothing more than obstacles. But I for one am not oppressing or placing obstacles in front of anyone. And I won't be blamed for it or responsible for it. I didn't say it wasn't unfair, I said it could be overcome. I'm 3 hrs from Charlotte in NC and what I saw was black and white college aged and older girls and boys acting like what they were doing was acceptable and even right. It's going to get worse before it gets better, and under a leftist gov't it will never get better.

Just have to ask for the reason why these black young men have no money and real education.
Could it be choice?
I chose to forego a higher education and have "slaved away" , yeah right, to make my bills. I get monetary compensation for
the work I do, which is fair.
I'm fine with my lot in life, and if I want to change it, that responsibility is on me.
Some people are unfortunate and have not been taught work ethics and self-responsibility by their elders.
However, adulthood is all about taking responsibility for one's actions.

The publication is a communist front, and MLK did have communist connections, for which he should not be condemed. He was just seeking what ever help he could get while he had to fight the Democrats who wanted all black people to remain on the plantation, something they still desire.

Cone On! It's not that simple and your hyperbole doesn't help much. MLK was hated by Whites especially J. Edgar Hoover. http://martinlutherking.org/thebeast.html P.S. I'm glad he was a Commie!

What do choices and responsibility have to do with color?
I said yesterday that I didn't hate you, yet.
That was incorrect, and I'm sorry.
I am trying diligently to remove the word from my vocabulary. Hate only hurts me.
Would you discredit my comments if I am a black woman?
