I for one will never, ever, give to the Red Cross anything to help anybody. And I haven't for many years now. Several years back I happened to be in Oklahoma State.

At that time they had a very large tornado rip through the country side. I had time, so I stopped into the RED CROSS shelter to help. I was asked to pass out coffee and water. Water was free, but I had to ask the victims to pay for the coffee. I informed them I was not going to do that. These tornado victims had nothing, they just barely had there life. No way I was going to do that. Coffee was not necessary I was told, water is. Cheep is not necessary either, and I have always thought that coffee was a comfort drink. So isn't that what there are supposed to be all about? To help and comfort the needy.

From that day on I have never given to the RED CROSS, and never will. I favor the Salvation Army over them all.

No doubt the coffee was donated to them, and cost them nothing!!

The Salvation Army definitely gets more bang for the buck. The head of the S.A. makes a round $13,000 a year, and gets a modest house and car. The heads of these other charities make 6 figure incomes.

I stopped giving to the RED CROSS after 911. They where given millions to help the victims, their families, and responders that fell victim while attempting rescues. They where asked why they weren't helping out and the reply was, insufficient funds. A investigation was conducted and found that the money had gone to executives and other non-emergency investments. They had to be ordered to recover the money and assist the citizens in need!
I agree that the Salvation Army is the better choice for donations.

I recall in Nam they would help a soldier to get home when there was a family emergency but they charged the family for all the expenses they encountered .

I've never donated to them nor will I !
