Our entry into WWII was engineered by the FDR White House by doing everything it could to provoke Japan or Germany into attacking. FDR sacrificed Pearl harbor & those Americans killed and injured so that he could save Stalin. Viet-Nam was almost entirely Democrats under Kennedy & Johnson.
As a bonus for you, Woodrow Wilson was singularly repsonsible for our entry into WWI.

When Johnson passed the civil rights bill, it started an exodus of dixiecrats.

so you say. That does not make it true. I had democrat friends too. Some were bigoted. They did not leave the democrat party. I am glad they stayed. It would have given the Republicans a bad name. Can't have that, can we? One or two congressmen switched parties. I did not vote for them. It's much like some of the establishment Republicans. Some do not like Trump. They'll either vote for Hillary or stay home. That won't make them democrats. One election does not a party switch make.
