Despite overwhelming opposition from citizens to these atrocious health care reform bills, Congressional Democrats voted to pass them anyway. With gleeful self-congratulations, they advanced legislation to Obama’s desk that not only WON’T reform anything, but which will only make things worse. Typical of Progressive policy! It’s always about them and their pathological need to be historic.

Thankfully, millions of Americans refuse to accept this criminal action. Court challenges are being filed and groups are banding together to push for the repealing of this nonsense. A number of States have even passed legislation intended to thwart the bill’s mandates requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance.

Of course, the Internet is being deluged by Obammunist operatives who are attempting to dishearten opponents. But, they are not having an effect, because average, patriotic Americans already know the strategy of the enemy within. Americans are fighting back and saying, “No.” The more names they are called, the more resolute they are about taking back their government from the lying, power-hungry Communists in office.

Typical posts by Obammunists include, “So, what freedoms have you lost under Obama!?” How sad that they do not instinctively understand. None are so blind as those who think licking Obama’s heels is the height of societal virtue.

These dim bulbs of progressive enlightenment simply do not grasp what being free really means. Nor do they want anyone else to understand it, either.

Being free means having the opportunity to work hard in order to earn the money and personal property necessary to reach one’s potential and goals. Additionally, unless one has the power to decide how he can use the fruits of his labors to realize his dreams, one cannot pursue his happiness, and thus, is not free.

ObamaCare will impose enormous taxation on all working Americans. The confiscation of even more of a person’s net revenue strips away that person’s freedoms. It is as simple as that. When one has less disposable income, one has less choices. When one has less choices, one is less free.

In the future, should you wish to take time to protest against government tyranny, you will be unable to do so. Why? Because you will not be able to afford to take the time off to do so. You won’t have the money needed to travel, or to buy signage materials, or to pay for lodging. You will be voiceless. The only mechanism you will have left will be reliance upon elected representatives who may or may not choose to represent you. As we see now, our government represents only those in power and their lackeys.

So, when some upstanding liberal beacon of civil liberty snidely asks you what freedoms you’ve lost under Obama, just look him squarely in the eye and say, “You wouldn’t understand. It’s an American thing.”

Specific freedoms being lost everyday, Mac, was the subject. But now that you've brought up the larger question of being free economically, let's see where you stand on that basic question of freedom. By your definition there's a huge class of people who do not have basic freedom. That's especially true for young people starting out. In fact, the only sure employment for the young today is joining the military, and that's what my now-teenage grandson looked to from 3rd grade on until he was diagnosed with Type I diabetes last year. Well, that's one kid, but we're talking about a whole generation with limited opportunities...that is, opportunities that they can understand and grasp onto and work toward. There is opportunity out there, just that it's not as easy as it was for you and me. I don't know what can be done about it. I'm putting away money for grandchildren's adult education but not everyone has that option.

No specific freedoms being lost everyday (gross exaggeration--empty & ridiculous rhetoric), but you are right, Mac, modern life and macroeconomics has created a situation where overall freedom is eroded at the individual level. There's no conspiracy involved, no entitlements involved (except the child tax credit that keeps middle class start-up families afloat), and no federal programs that come to mind...no conspiracy either. I wish there were a conspiracy of right or left to promote opportunity to work for this generation. Well, daily I see bright smiling young people clerking and stocking shelves and while perhaps not exactly career opportunity it is work and they go at it happily and enthusiastically. It's just a question how they will raise a family so we have another generation. Mac, you've hit on the real problem that must be worked out this next 20 years.

Jon, I am sorry to hear about your grandson. I too have a grandson that was counting on going into the military. He had a growth on his shoulder and when he went to the doctor he has a condition where the scaring does not stop. He has been told that he won't be accepted because of this. I have been told what this is but I can't remember what it is. I questioned whether it would keep him out of the military, but apparently it will.

But he has continued to work hard in school and has gotten a scholarship to a community college, and then to K-State, Missouri, or KU. His field of study is engineering. I am hoping he will pick KU, but it is his choice. One thing that I told him.(He was born with a hearing defect, and his sight was horrible but is getting better. Was 80-80, with glasses it is 20-20, but it has gotten better as he has gotten older.)I told him as I told all of my kids, "Never let anyone tell you what you can and can't do. If you want to do something do it. You may not always succeed with what you want but you will always put yourself in a position to succeed."

Yes, there are somethings that are bad that limits options. However, there is always options if you choose to take them.
