Two African- American men were shot and killed by the police in the past two days. From what I can determine from videos, neither of these two men were threatening the police. The second incident was even more disturbing than the first. This young person was a young man that had no police record. He worked as a supervisor of a school cafeteria. He had a CWP and followed all the regulations required by the law.
Neither of the men that were killed by the police did anything to warrant being shot, from the videos I saw on the TV news.
The question must be asked, what is broken in local police departments that causes these kinds of incidents from happening over and over again, and what can be done to stop them?
I wonder how many Latinos or Caucasians were killed by police. It looks like only black people are getting killed. That is difficult to believe.
From what I've seen the Cop in Minn. overreacted and Murdered the guy .. The Louisiana guy seems to be different , cops were called about a man with a gun threatening people to buy C.D.'s ..Gun was found , needs more investigation ..
I taught history and government for 43 years, and I have watched our politics since 1950, with the McCarthy hearings on Communism. We had they beat in WWII, but Roosevelt sold us out.
I am a retired Police Officer and I can tell you that the police have nothing to do with it. The powers that be
tell the police what they are allowed to, and that is what is holding the police back from doing their job.

I think the question is why do our police view the black population as needing to be executed? Is there no such thing as a taser? In the Baton Rouge case he didn't pull out his gun and they had his arms pinned. He could have easily been tased if they thought him such a danger.

I can see now here comes the right wing BS. I am sure over the coming days investigation will show these two people were thugs and they deserve to be shot. As far as right wing hate goes killing people means nothing to you people only when you can advance your sick political agenda. After all you still have done nothing about 20 six years old kids killed in a classroom
It is a fact that blacks commit a much higher % of the crimes than Mexicans or whites, therefore the disproportionate % of blacks getting killed. It was this way in the 60's and 70's, when I was a police officer.
I make no excuses for my fellow officers of today.

The one who claimed to be licensed to carry was told not to reach. He reached. Being licensed he should have understood not to reach when told not to. His girlfriend was actually rhyming, "Terry licensed to carry". She had an agenda. She didn't seem to care that her man was bleeding to death right next to her.
When a cop has his gun out and says not to reach, you don't reach. Do the cops actually have to wait till the situation gets to be 50/50 between the cop and the suspect.

There is nothing wrong with the police in this country. There may be something wrong with a few individual police officers. There is no profession that does not have its few bad apples, but to condemn a whole group for the actions of a few is an act of blind bias and stupidity. It would be great if the police officers killed in the line of duty got the same publicity as the incidents that some want to use to condemn all police officers got. The lives of the police matter, too.
NO! If they feel threatened, with their lives, they are allowed to shoot and deal with the results, later.

Most definitely procedures were not followed. When officers stop citizens, the citizen has the responsibility to inform the officer he has a ccp and show the permit. At that point, the officer should have a procedure to ask if the citizen has the weapon on his person, it's at this point, it's totally up to the officer to instruct the citizen how to retrieve his ID and his weapon from his person in the safe manner prescribed by the officer.
It's clear at first information from news stations, procedures weren't followed or reviewed at safety meetings by the dept.
Ah the troll came out from under his bridge. What would you have done about school shootings? Are you ever going to give an answer or just flap your gums.?

Chief is correct partly. The news only reports on black deaths causing more of a problem but shoots up their ratings. they are part of the problem
