Maybe you should do some research into your own party. Currently Alabama is about to have the governor and the chief justice and the speaker of the house ( all republicans) put in jail. Currently from Washington there is three republicans in jail and a couple more looking at it. On the democratic side- one. So, who's the criminals?

Yes the ACA did not turn out as expected. It needs fixing, but the republicans have no wish to do anything but repeal it. It was the same in Mass. When it first started it sucked! Everyone hated it. Then Duvall Patrick became governor and had a democratic congress. They did little tweeks every year for the eight that Duvall was governor. Now they love what they have. Just need some that want to actually want to do the hard work.

There are many other things such as that the Civil Rights Bills of the 1950s were passed under Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower and against the foot dragging of Democratic segregationist senators and representatives from the South. Vice-President Richard Nixon was Ike's point man in trying to get them passed.

Under John Kennedy, there was also a lot of resistance in both houses which were under Democratic control and it was only after the persistence of Republicans that they were passed over those objections.

Sen. Barry Goldwater opposed the 1964 bill on the grounds that it would lead to quotas but it passed under Pres. Lyndon Johnson with the cooperation of most Republcians, a fact acknowledged by Johnson. Hubert H. Humphrey was angling for the VP spot on Johnson's 1964 ticket and got it. He said if it led to quotas, he'd eat a copy on the Senate floor. It passed and led to quotas but Humphrey never changed his diet to make good on his promise.

I had the same reservations that Goldwater did as did many Republicans. Limits onthe power of the federfal government are not minor concerns. The entire matter finished off the Republican hopes for black support. The shift from black Republicanism had begun under FDR. Today, it's only a few thinking blacks, about 7%, who see what we mean. The rest are like a pack of lemmings listening to the soings of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc., running headlong for a cliff that leads to an abyss which will likely destroy this country within ten years.

The most bigoted people I have ever met have been liberals. They loved civil rights until blacks moved into their white suburban enclaves in Great Neck, Larchmont, etc.
