That type of language has a direct correlation to the degree of intelligence, I am told.

Did I offend your delicate little sensibilities?

Apparently you have never heard that expression. Like the Twilight Zone, Bumfuck is a type of place where one just suddenly finds oneself.
The exact location of Bumfuck is unknown, but usually not very far from where one is at the moment, but just beyond the known world. If it were plotted on a map, people would avoid it and/or leave it. In other words I wish the UN would just disappear.

As John Smith puts it, "It’s a group that demonstrates the absurdity of using an endless process of toothless diplomatic negotiations to arrive at peace at any price. To people who are truly able to assess its strengths and weaknesses, the U.N. is both laughable and useless. Except for one feature: It can give legitimacy to rogue states. There is value to the dictatorships, totalitarian regimes and criminal nations of the world in seeking authenticity by claiming to be involved in the United Nation’s efforts and leadership."

My 1st choice for a new location for the UN would be in the Green Zone in Baghdad. Let the delegates sample all the wonders that that ancient has to offer.

Quote:
Founder, caliph al-Mansur of the Abbasid caliphate, chose the city’s location because of its critical link in trade routes, mild climate, topography (critical for fortification), and proximity to water. All of these factors made the city a breeding ground of culture and knowledge. Baghdad is set right on the Khurasan Road, which was an established meeting place for caravan routes from all cardinal directions.

2nd choice would be Geneva, Switzerland... A totally neutral country in the heart of Europe'

3rd choice would be the Hague, Netherlands where the International Court of Justice is located.

The United Nations has long ago became an unwelcome guest of the United States and really needs to get out.

I understand that there is a vacancy for a new headquarters in Bumfuck Raqqa, Sryia... Owners will build to suit? (Although Putin might bomb it back to the Stone Age, again)

====================
Fact is US must get out of UN. It is obsolete, no longer functions effectively, but just want our money. US spend 56.5% of the total UN funding. That is 25% of the operating, and 26.5% of the military including its equipment. UN consist of 192 active member countries, 52 members are Muslims. Most often, UN policy making puts the US interests under their feet, the fact that US funds more than 1/2 of the total member nations.

All UN ambassadors located in NYC are luxuriously provided with the glitters of NYC, and it was reported that many of them are secret agents for the country they represent. In addition, they are exempt from arrests of crimes they make. E.g. Failing to obey traffic, and etc.

UN was coined in 1942, under President Franklin D. Roosevelt, but finally came to be effective in 1945, with 51 member nations. At that time it worked effectively meeting its objectives. Now, it is too political and no longer effective.

I think the best place for UN is Somalia or the Middle East, where they could provide service where it is needed. US must not be part of it. US must create another body that meets the current needs of our national interests, and the whole world.

One Lost, The answer to your question is no! Here is why:
1. Jews have a common gene according to an Egyptian study and others with Arabs and other early settlers of the Middle East. This genetically proves that their roots are in what is now, Israel.
2. The Khazars were a Eastern European of Turkic background, There are no Turkic word group words in Yiddish, the language of Ashkenazi Jews. There language is basically German with lots of Russian, Polish, Hungarian and other languages of Eastern Europe. The written language is in Hebrew characters. This shows there is no linguistic connection with Khazars.
3. There are Jewish Khohanim, or Jewish Priests in the Ashkenazi culture. The Priesthood has little theological power, but the Priesthood does demand that all Priests be decendents of Aaron, the brother of Moses. This shows that the Ashkenazi Jews were present before the Second Temple was destroyed by Imperial Rome. All Priests do have a common gene only to themselves.
The Khazars converted to Judaism in the early Middle Ages. It is unclear if the king converted or all the people did as well. In any case they were conquered by the Russian army, and forced to convert to the Orthodox Church. They have disappeared from history since then.

It has been my understanding that the Khazars, Ashkenazi, converted to Judaism during the Middle Ages and that there is little genetic commonality, other than what resulted from extended geography of the area with possible interbreeding with the Sephardim, the original Jews of the Old Testament. Khazaria was at the northwestern shore of the Caspian Sea, distant but not insurmountably so, from Judea or what was left of it.

Further, those Ashkenazi migrated into Central & Eastern Europe & became the dominant people we call Jews today, the Sephardim having been scattered across southern Europe & northern Africa. Remnants remain from Iran & Iraq, across the Near East and northern Africa, with some descendants in southern Europe, Iberia, Italy, Greece and the Balkans and Turkey.

I never read that the Ashkenazis had been forced to convert to Russian Orthodoxy; I thought that they remained Jewish. I am sure that by this point there has been interbreeding between those two major Jewish groups. A genetic study would be very interesting.

I find this & all similar things fascinating.

I found this a while back and it seems to work effectively not to mention I thought it fit your post quite well.

crazy, Why would the forced conversion of Jews in Eastern Europe be a surprise to you? Russia has a long, long history of forced conversion of Jews and other religions. The Khazars were different from the Ashkenazi Jews in culture. It is an open question if any of the Khazar people converted to Judaism. It may very well be that only the aristocracy of Kashers converted. The history is not clear. They were assimilated into Russian culture, not that of Ashkenazi Jews. Some " anti-Zionists" claim that Ashkenazi Jews don't belong in what is now Israel because it wasn't their point of origin. This is not true and the genetic, linguistic and historical facts all points to the fact that Ashkenazi Jews just as every other Jewish group is decendent of those Jews that were forced into exile by Imperial Rome. Further, Jewish law is very specific on who is a Jew. If a person has been converted by a Rabbi, is Jewish. There is a lot of difference of opinion concerning what Rabbis may convert. If a person's birth mother was Jewish, so is the child. The father gives the child a name and the mother, the child's religion. quote=crazylibertarian].

For years I've been saying that I guess I don't much care where they go after someone cuts that piece of Manhattan off the island, and the UN Building starts to [almost] float off into the East River.
