The Christian method is to teach them to fish, not take a cut out of everything they ever catch. That fishing lesson happened a long time ago, when the British were drilling in Iraq, the French were drilling in Syria, we were drilling in Saudi Arabia and the Germans were building a railroad to get there. We've had almost a century to be the Christians some of us say we are and move aside.

The spelling is government, Not gummint. I didn't know you were a black guy. They didn't have much of what could be called the government. The French just did what is done to/for all primitive uncultured or uncivilized backwards people when they get colonized.
Can you explain what made them uncivilized, uncultured or backward - or are you just talking out of your ass?

They had a government provided for them.
We ALL know how much everyone wants a foreign power to provide a government for us, right?

As much as the Marxist anti-colonialist scream about how colonized people and lands are raped by the imperialist colonizers, the fact of the matter is they benefit greatly from their colonization.
There may have been *some* benefits... but imperialism in that era was about forced economies. You don't seem to be the type that would make excuses for a forced economy.

The people of the Mideast would still be riding around on camels and living in tents.
Yeah, on sport-vacations.

Thanks to Islam, those people appreciate nothing. You would think they would appreciate their becoming relatively affluent, due to the more wealthy and technologically advanced nations coming in discovering their petroleum, giving them the technology, getting it out of the ground and then paying for the oil making them rich.
1) I guess it doesn't hurt if you have no government and mass starvation all over the place. They would have done well to have listened to the columnist also, and maybe they would have done away with the caste system. But I'm sure you wouldn't have minded being untouchable.
2) Ya, I guess you're right, I forgot, all cultures are equal, especially Islam as Mohammed intended and set it up to be.
3) if you don't have an economy, I can't see that it would be bad to have one forced on you, when it lessened the starvation.
4) Now, you're just being silly.
5) Those were not Christian endeavors. If you're lifting people out of poverty and squalor and helping them organize so that they have a country rather than just a tribal society, I don't see a problem with getting York but as any other service provided gets. Many of the things taken from an uncivilized land that a more technologically advanced society can use, I would imagine they probably had no use for anyway. But I don't know details about all that stuff so a lot of it's just a guess but it makes sense to me.
