How and where should we begin to end the controlling career politicians that at the moment , along with special intrest groups control OUR country. I belive the first step is to force any seat holder in the house or senate with more then ten yrs to forfeit that seat . Then begin a new with term limits similar to that of the president . Followed by the end of PAID lobbyists . As well as the denial of special intrest goups to fund any bill or policy in which their group or ANY affiliates there of could even remotely be effected by . Im not saying i have it all figured out but i belive this would be a just and effective rough outline of the direction we should be moving twards . I would enjoy objectivity and bias opinions with both pros and cons to this idea .

I could get behind the idea of term limits right now. One way of doing it would be to call on State legislature for a conference to amend the constitution under the 5th amendment. It would take 34 States to agree. Then we could get rid of the 17th amendment as well.

I totally agree with this, it should have stayed that way from the beginning, there was never meant to be anything but term limits, 6 years for the house (because they are closest to the people) and 2 years for the senate (because of people like Reid)

I totally agree. This continual career politician grouped with special interest groups allow them to shine the platform they were elected on. Colorado found out that can be painful when the people truly realize they have been duped!

I totally agree as well, but, seeing as THEY themselves have to vote new policy into law etc, I can't really see them voting to limit THEMSELVES into term limits - ie voting themselves out of a job (their 'career')!! So yes, I agree it's already gone too far from the original concept intended by the founding fathers, so I think this will have to come from a President. He'll have to be a VERY brave man, but would get MY support!!

It could happen through the States. 34 states agree to conference to amend the constitution. It would take 34 states to agree to a conference.

I agree with the sentiment, but I submit that correcting these problems won't come with more government rules and regulations. The only hope is in the hands of the voters.

Voters have to put forward honest and honorable people to represent them instead of allowing self centered, power hungry, criminals to be the only ones willing to run for office.

There are already limits on terms. Voters just need to vote new representatives in when the old ones have gone over the cliff.

The very first thing we need to do is abolish the Electoral College. Make the actual votes of the people decide who is voted in. Second, abolish the federal reserve. Third, pass a constitutional amendment outlawing lobbyist and PACs, and severely limiting the power of special interest groups. And limit campaign donations and spending. Fourth, term limits and financial accountability for all elected/appointed government officials. Fifth, no retirement benefits for government official. (this would not apply to government employees). Sixth, repeal Obamacare. Seventh, abolish the IRS and implement a flat tax federally. Each state should only collect sales tax. Eight, reform education. Nineth, Combine and streamline federal law enforcement under the DOJ...this means DHS, FBI, CIA, NSA, ATF, ICE, etc. and pass laws that limit the power to infringe upon civil rights.
Tenth, abolish CZARS. I know I have said all of this before, but it bears repeating. And these suggestions are just the beginning. The more we can simplify and require REAL transparency with our government, the better.

Have you read "the Liberty Amendments"?

http://conventionofstates.com/

this might help to explain the procedure.

That sounds good except for two things:

1: The elected pigs are above the law now. What is going to make them obey all these new rules and laws?

2: The way to oppose oppressive government is not to impose new rules and regulations. The oppressive nature of government is the problem, not a solution to the problem.

As the founding fathers stated, this form of government cannot stand without the people being a moral people. Without moral people, no amount of rules and laws will keep them in line.
