To members of the "Tea Party", when they sees a government teat sucking person, like let's say, Joe Miller, who was the "Tea Party" favorite as a "Tea Party"r senator a few years back in Alaska - before losing - it's OK for him use state aid to help him through "tough times and get over the hump." This is the same Joe Miller who virtually ran the entire gamut of government aid en route to becoming a staunch, fist-shaking opponent of the welfare state (typical "Tea Party" style). It is OK with the "Tea Party" for this lazy ingrate Miller to go from having three little future Medicare-collecting teabag children to eight little future Medicare-collecting teabag children. In typical alternate reality "Tea Party" mentality that's good solid use of government aid, because what we're doing is helping someone who is white "transition" from dependency to economic independence.

This of course is a different way the "Tea Party" judges people who don't look like Joe Miller (not white) and who use government aid (in fact the perception presented by by the "Tea Party" changes from "government aid" when speaking of white people receiving public assistance, to "welfare" when applying that same public assistance to people of color. To the "Tea Party", black people are on "welfare", i.e. as a permanent crutch that helps genetically lazy and ambition-less parasites mooch off of rich white taxpayers instead of getting real jobs.

There are many documented interviews at "Tea Party" rallies where members of this 'movement' came up with one version or another of the white "assistance" / "black welfare" defense. Saying things like: "Yes, I'm on Medicare, butÂ… I needed it! It's those other people who don't need it who are the problem!" Or: "Yes, it's true, I retired from the police/military/DPW at 54 and am on a fat government pension that you and your kids are going to be paying for for the next forty years, while I sit in my plywood-paneled trailer living room in Florida watching Fox News, gobbling Medicare-funded prescription medications, and railing against welfare queens. But I worked hard for those bennies! Not like those other people!"

People in the "Tea Party" refuse to see the contradiction, much in the same way that some Wall Street people refuse to see the problem with their company, say, taking $13 billion in bonuses in the same year that they accepted $13 billion in state bailouts. Rational thought has been proven not to be a foundation in the "Tea Party".

Ignoring most of your verbose rant, you are aware Medicare is not part of any assistance program, correct? Oh, you are not aware of that. Medicare is deducted from employees pay checks just as Social Security is deducted. I would bet you most Tea Party members are aware of how Medicare is funded although you obviously are not.

In response to your typical Tea Party uninformed and irrational short rant, "Welfare" as you call it, is any government assistance program supported by taxes.

Medicare is NOT part of any welfare/assistance program. Medicare is a health insurance program for individuals 65 and over which individuals paid for WITH THEIR TAXES DURING THEIR WORKING YEARS. Further, those individuals continue PAYING FOR MEDICARE out of each of their Social Security checks. You are certainly welcome to research it. Per chance in your confusion you meant Medicaid. It is usually best to know correct names for programs you are discussing. I believe it may be you who is uninformed.

Raylan,
I just scrolled down and read most of your responses and didn't find ANY specific discussion of policy, or any justification for WHY you would want to call a group of people bad names.

For those others reading this post; you need to remember that the most used tactic of those who don't have a good argument about a policy or act, simply demonize their opponent, that is what is happening here.

Not having a good reason for opposing "Taxed Enough Already", or excessive spending (while borrowing to get the money to spend foolishly), or a good reason for not having a spending ceiling, or for stopping the ever increasing national debt, or borrowing money to implement another ruinous entitlement, the left (Progressives) started years ago simply bad mouthing, as a common strategy, all opposing groups, including the tea party movement.
Sadly, it is a very effective political strategy for which the free citizens of this country will all pay dearly if they/we don't wise up.

The habit of cherry picking what is 'assistance' or an 'entitlement' or 'welfare' by the tea party is laughable. All of these programs are subsidized by taxpayers.

Here is a novel idea - how about teapublicans in congress focus on job creation and affordable healthcare to reduce the need for taxpayers subsidizing any public assistance program?

In the United States the Social Security Act of 1935 provided for federally funded financial assistance to the elderly, the blind, and dependent children. Subsequent amendments broadened the act in terms of coverage provided and eligibility; included was the provision for medical insurance to the aged (1965) under the Medicare program and to low-income families (1965) under the Medicaid program.

As a moderator on a Tea Party website, I can assure you, the Tea Party is not as despised as you think. The membership on our site has grown exponentially in the last week.
And-please read this article which was just released today:
