What makes greed good?

I fail to see how fewer people having more & more people having less is in any way a good thing.

The failing to see this is what is why things are in the shape they are now.

But take heart for there are those with much who are becoming aware of this problem & while Sanders chances are slim the momentum is shifting a bit more to the left.

It is not so much how much wealth you have but what you do with it. Buying the government is not one of the best things to use it for. That is money that is wasted as the system is failing as they do that. Everyone fails as we move on down that path.

I hate to have to explain this to you in simple terms. But the fact is that people do things for their own interests. It's called self-interest. That's what makes America Great.

Socialism and communism do not prosper people. They prosper government.

I am afraid that the "progressives" and those that believe a Utopia can be created where people willingly swap their own identity and their feeling of self worth and values to become just one more termite in a mound whose ultimate desire is to destroy the foundation upon which a society is built will be a wonderful rewarding society where everyone will have all they need and want and no one will need to work at any job they don't find to be fun..

Right! 370 million people, all intent on "getting what's theirs" and screwing whoever necessary in the process, is what made America great - in what alternate universe? I'd like to know, in order to avoid that one.

In THIS universe, back in the beginning, self interest was tempered by the needs of the many, or "the common good", as no country prospers from the top down. Even slave owners fed their slaves, as dead slaves generate no profit, that was indeed self interest at work.

Greed, as a verb, is considered good by some, as it encourages innovation and risk taking, but where it crosses the line to bad, is when it "takes" without commensurate return. American capitalism was based on value for value principles, whereby no one was cheated ( there were ALWAYS exceptions, but weren't universally tolerated ). The new paradigm is based on a value for PERCEIVED value principle, whereby anyone may make as much money as they wish - as long as the "customer" believes they're getting their money's worth - whether they actually are or not. The folk who pay too much are idiots and deserve to be cheated, that's the operative thought.

Why else would anyone pay $800 for a $75 phone?

How sad for you if you think America is a land of cheaters intent on screwing their fellow citizens.

America became great because of freedom, not collectivism.

Freedom isn't perfect. It's just the most-perfect.

There is no Communist Utopia.

It's true that people are not perfect. There are bad people. The fact that people are not perfect is the reason why you don't put a single in charge with dictatorial power to rule a country. It's the reason why you allow the citizens as a whole to wield power.

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts, absolutely....

Wealth envy. A liberal characteristic.

For those of you who think greed is a problem, did you ever tell your boss he's paying you too much? Did you overpay your taxes? Did you tell the government to give your welfare to some poorer single mother?

Or did you keep every cent,?
