Rumsfeld was at the Pentagon. General Myers had claimed that he was in the office of Senator Max Clelland at the Capitol for the duration of the attacks. General Myers was the acting chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on 9/11. His claim of not being at the Pentagon gave him an excuse for not getting fighters in the air to intercept the hijacked airliners. Rumsfeld's statement shows that Myers lied.
