My opinion is based on Mohammed himself. A violent extremist who spread the religion by violence and countless wars. A disgusting man who married a 7 year old and consummated the marriage when she was just 9. This is who Muslims follow.

Are they no different than the Aryan Skin Head Nazi's who praise Hitler?

Have you not noticed, Mr. Light " PunkPissces"Shiner, that they all shout " ALLAH HU AKBAR" ?

I am willing to pay for your flight to the middle east, so you can personally ask ISIS if they are Mooooslims and while you're at it you can ask them where they keep their Koran.

PaulPisces;

" They didn't even have a Quran. " And this means what?

ISIS fighters raped Yazidi girls as young as 12 and claimed the Koran allowed it.

My point exactly. ISIS is a bunch of psychopaths who have co-opted Islam as a cover. They no more represent Islam than the KKK represents Christianity (or caucasians, for that matter).

I'd think the first step in winning a fight is to know who your enemy is. ISIS/Al Qaeda and the like have done an excellent job of convincing both sides that Islam is the central issue. It's been a great tool for dividing people as well as driving recruitment to their barbaric brand. The enemy is not Islam, it is terrorists.

When one believes they are the same thing the terrorists have won a major battle.

I don't know many Muslims, but the ones I do know are Muslims first and US citizens second. The few I know are not exactly patriotic. I do not think you can be a devout Muslim and a US citizen, because so many tenets of the Islamic faith are rooted in medieval thought patterns. Being gay, you should be worried, Paul. Not only do devout Muslims have the death penalty for homosexuals, they USE it. Their religion commands them to lie to infidels, (that would be you, me, and every other non-Muslim ), and to subjugate all others who do not subscribe to their belief system. They are more of a study of intolerance than of religious beliefs.

Since I don't know them I can't comment on your Muslim friends Loki, but as you point out I am a member of a marginalized community. So I am pretty sensitive about defining a diverse community based on the actions of only a part of it. Note that I also know Muslims, as well as people of many other faiths, and none, from the Uber driving Palestinian to friends espouse the "death to gays" rule. Much like the millions of Roman Catholic women who practice some form of birth control (other than the "rhythm method" ) and the many Jews who eat pork, I believe most Muslims, at least in the West, do not favor the "death to gays" rules.

And one might say the same "Christian first, U.S. Citizen second" about some radicals in our own country as illustrated by Kim Davis.

While it is clear that aggressive action is needed to rid the world of ISIS, the war will never be won by might alone. We only win in the long run when we find common ground.

Great quote from Maya Angelou:

"Hate, it has caused a lot of problems in the world, but it has not solved one yet."

I would not call the Muslims I am acquainted with friends. They do not pal around much with infidels. As they acquire more political power, they become more aggressive in their desire for special treatment. Look at Europe. While freedom of religion is a basic tenet of this country, I submit that Islam is more of a political system disguised as a religion than a religion. Of course, I could say the same about Catholicism and some Protestant denominations.

Looks like you have already found common ground, which is the sand that your head is buried in.

And Mayate Angelou will not save your head from the Islamic sword, which is prescribed for all sodomites under sharia law.
