Mr. Carson has officially lost my support for being a contender for the GOP nomination. There are simply too many inconsistencies in all of his statements.

And this one crosses the line.

There is no such thing as a squeaky clean candidate...period. This story doesn't sway me in the least. You have to understand that the media are out to destroy Carson, just like they did with Herman Cain.

And out of the other very honest candidates, democrat or republican, which now leads on your list of good candidates?

Kasich, although he's a long shot and his days at Lehman Brothers are a stain. I find him pragmatic.

The word is "Borking", JMHO. Like they did Robert Bork, a very intelligent and honest man, who had the audacity to be a conservative black man.

Big jump there. From a very good conservative like Carson, to a RINO like Kasich. Interesting, at the least.

This story is so weak and unrelated to Carson's polities that it's to absurd hype it. Politico, Fortune, and CNN should be embarrassed to make a big deal of it. Please provide the other inconsistencies that bother you about Carson?

This is simply political smear attack originated by Politico, which is the same organization that initiated the unsubstantiated smear attacks against Herman Cain. Time to read what Carson actually said and put it in perspective.

My biggest requirement for any candidate is their fiscally conservative positions, coupled with track record. I am disinterested in any "social" issue or litmus test for what a "true conservative" means. He turned an 8 billion deficit into a 2 billion surplus in Ohio. That scores big time in my book.

The biggest inconsistency for me was telling college kids to actively fight back when he directed an armed robber to go after the cashier in a chicken joint instead of him. Makes absolutely no sense. His story, also, has yet to be proven true as no one has been able to confirm it.

The dumbest thing he's said so far was pyramids being used to store grain.

The most illogical thing he's said is his position on eliminating medicare and replacing it with yearly throws of two grand into HSA's. That wouldn't cover the cost of an annual physical with blood work. It shows a complete lack of understanding about the costs of elder care.

My mind is not yet made up. I do like Kasich well enough to hope he makes the final running. He is," with a solid track record", a do'er not a B.S.'er. That means a lot.

Carson is real enough. I don't know if he actually wrote the book himself or if a ghost writer did. Either way it doesn't bare much weight with me. Where he comes from and where he has gotten does. Anyway show me one person who hasn't made mistakes.

I like something of everyone still standing so far. They all have +'s and -'s. Politics is a dirty business. Look at what Clinton and Sanders are doing to one another and it's early yet.

I don't believe Carson ever said anything remotely like replacing medicare with HSAs. These statements sound like the smears on Palin, claiming she said she could see Russia from her house. It sounds like you are taking irresponsible hype as fact - or are just participating in the current campaign to take Carson out. This is a Presidential election in the making. Time to get serious.

Let's go right back to the start of this Bullshit post. As usual, anything from the left is simply a lie. Hate to do it, but I'm going to cut & paste most of the article, and give the link, I just read from Daily Wire. Apparently, Fortune picked this crap up from politico.

Never underestimate the capacity of the media to propagandize against Republicans.

That’s the theme of this morning’s overwrought news coverage on Dr. Ben Carson’s supposed “lie” regarding a “scholarship” to West Point. The story began with Politico, which ran with the audacious headline, “Ben Carson admits fabricating West Point scholarship.”

Politico began thusly:

Ben Carson’s campaign on Friday admitted, in a response to an inquiry from POLITICO, that a central point in his inspirational personal story was fabricated: his application and acceptance into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

The key word here is “fabricated.” Did the Carson campaign admit any such thing? Absolutely not. The facts reported by Politico don’t even support this interpretation of the Carson campaign’s response. According to Politico, Carson said in his 1992 memoir Gifted Hands that he was offered a “full scholarship” to West Point after dining with General William Westmoreland in 1969. Here’s the relevant passage from Carson’s autobiography:

At the end of my twelfth grade I marched at the head of the Memorial Day parade. I felt so proud, my chest bursting with ribbons and braids of every kind. To make it more wonderful, We had important visitors that day. Two soldiers who had won the Congressional Medal of Honor in Viet Nam were present. More exciting to me, General William Westmoreland (very prominent in the Viet Nam war) attended with an impressive entourage. Afterward, Sgt. Hunt introduced me to General Westmoreland, and I had dinner with him and the Congressional Medal winners. Later I was offered a full scholarship to West Point. I didn’t refuse the scholarship outright, but I let them know that a military career wasn’t where I saw myself going.

That’s the entire relevant portion of Carson’s account. He reiterated that account last month in an interview with Charlie Rose, when he said, “I was offered a full scholarship at West Point, got to meet General Westmoreland and go to Congressional Medal of Honor dinners. But decided really my pathway would be medicine.”

Politico followed up on this story. They reported one additional piece of information that seems to conflict with Carson’s story: Carson never applied to West Point, and was never extended admission.

But Carson never said he applied. He said he was extended a full scholarship offer. What’s more, West Point doesn’t offer scholarships: all admission is free contingent on serving in the military afterwards. It thus seems probable that Westmoreland or another military figure tried to recruit Carson, telling him that he wouldn’t have to pay for his education – and that Carson read that as a “full scholarship,” and never applied.

In fact, that’s exactly what Carson’s campaign manager said to Politico in an email:

Dr. Carson was the top ROTC student in the City of Detroit. In that role he was invited to meet General Westmoreland. He believes it was at a banquet. He can’t remember with specificity their brief conversation but it centered around Dr. Carson’s performance as ROTC City Executive Officer. He was introduced to folks from West Point by his ROTC Supervisors. They told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in ROTC.

But here’s how Politico editorialized: “When presented with this evidence, Carson’s campaign conceded the story was false.”

That’s nonsense. They did no such thing. They provided details that corroborated Carson’s story and explained his loose use of the language.

Sure he did. It's public record and he stands by his statements.

The more you dig into this story, the weirder it gets. Now it has been reported that Westmoreland wasn't even in Detroit on Memorial Day 1969 or in the days/weeks before or after, so no offer could have possibly been made. I just don't like the smell of any of this.

There was something a little suspicious about him all along and I think Trump had a good point to consider in a message today. The line Carson keeps using about "people deciding" is going to haunt him if he gets any drop in polls from this because Trump will say, "See, the people are deciding, why don't you quit?"
