Nothing! How is that possible? Both are just a POV based on many various factors. Like the elephant, if I may. Three blind men are given different parts of the elephant to analie ("" not working): trunk, foot, and tail. Their separate conclusions are both true and false. Their observation was too limited and their perpective too narrow. Being at least partially blind is being partisan or accepting the label of liberal or conservative.

I don't care for the terms liberal or conservative because they don't really explain what the persons being labeled are. I prefer to differentiate using terms such as those championing individual freedoms vs those championing collectivism. Or those who want to be free vs those who want to control everyone. And when thusly labeled there is a universe of difference between the two; one loves freedom, the other loves control over others.

I don't believe many liberals exist today. The progressives and socialists have stolen the Democrat Party which housed most of the liberals. Liberals of even 15 years ago would be solidly ashamed of the Democrat Party.

Conservatives still exist, but what people on the left don't seem to understand is that true conservatives are exceedingly rare among today's elected. The reason is that being conservative is not a slam dunk. One has to put one's self on the line daily in order to be a true conservative. All areas of our society that control the media are oriented to the left because they are ragged, nagged, and brow-beaten, and with this Administration threatened to conform; ergo most people believe this nation is heavily leftist. And I don't believe that is true. I believe this nation is heavily rightist, but under constant oppression by the left, and politicians THINK they cannot survive without spouting the leftist mantra about most things. And to continue being a good old boy in Congress, they have to help the left win its battles - and between the leftist and the rightist congressmen, they have all but destroyed the US Constitution which every blasted one of them swore to protect. They all behave as though they have never once read it.

The fundamental difference between a "conservative" and a "liberal" is that conservatives want to be left alone to enjoy his individual freedoms while the liberal wants to control every aspect of the conservatives' lives. That is why the liberals cherish big government and why conservatives hate big government. I cannot think of any bigger fundamental difference between two groups of people. Freedom vs non freedom just about trumps everything.

You did not tell lies, it was your opinion,which are truths that you hold evident in your beliefs, but for him, in his thinking... some of what you said was untrue to his perception of certainty that he holds true. This is where we all seem to have a problem, especially when factual truth is restricted or purposely withheld from us.

The difference between Conservatives and Liberals was explained this way to me, "If you want to anger a Conservative, tell him a lie, if you want to anger a Liberal, tell him the truth." I think that covers it very neatly.

The difference between liberal and conservative is meaningless. Its the difference between republican and democrat that is important. The Republican party has been co-opted by the rich. It is now a party of the rich by the rich and for the rich. they hate paying taxes, they think that the minimum wage is to much, they hate unions and health care. They love war because building the machines of war is the most profitable business in America. How there could be even 1 working class republican is beyond comprehension.

I do believe that he has a hold of the elephants tail and is so covered in elephant dung that he has lost all direction to his life. He does not now know left from right nor up from down. Maybe he will encounter a good rain storm and wash the crap from his eyes he will see straight although I highly doubt it as those fumes can be very toxic.

Then why does the Democrat party have higher income, why are all the major bankers Democrats, why do all of the policies of Democrats push highly egalitarian businesses such as Hollywood, Silicon Valley, lawyers, no taxes for the internet businesses. It is a fact that the free market has frred more people, by giving them individual earning power and wealth production, then any other system ever devised and it only became a problem when the gov't started manipulating every aspect of it. Get the federal gov't out of the way and EVERYONE'S wealth will grow again.

The truth is the labels "Liberal" and "Conservative" are what the rich and powerful use to keep the working classes at each other's throats while they accumulate more than their fair share. White ,working class folks spend all their energy trying to squeeze more out of the poor and working,poor. The level of stupidty neccessary for a working class person to call themselves a Conservative and back the greedy ,rich is in itself astounding. It smacks of "Stockholm Syndrome".
