U.S. Sends Warships to South China Sea in an Apparent Attempt to Kick Off WW III

As if poking the Russian bear wasnt enough, the Obama administration has now chosen to rile the Chinese dragon.
In a move meant to project U.S. military power to the Chinese government, American officials announced that U.S. Navy warships will sail directly through a Chinese claimed 12-nautical mile zone in the disputed region of the South China Sea.
The contested waters around the Spratly Islands, which China claims as its own sovereign territory, have been the cause of intense controversy. The U.S. has refused to recognize Chinas territorial claims and believes the disputed area resides in international waters.

I agree with your first statement. Having said that, China is not ready to take us on in a war. In addition, we either stop China's attempt at controlling the South China sea lanes, or become isolationists and let China and Russia rule the seas. Yeah, am I afraid that Obama will screw this up? Yes, I am, but this the first time in seven years that he has shown that he actually has a set of testicles.
We'll know when China is ready to take us on, is the day China moves to take Taiwan back. Right now, they're all bluff.

I've always pretty much thought N Korea WAS China.
And they can't make a move without permission.

China does back up NKorea, but their leader is a loose cannon, who has total control.
I can remember watching a documentary about NKorea, of eye doctors visiting that country and offering free eye cataract surgery to the population. I guess that they have a big problem there with cataracts due to their sparse diet. Anyway, you would think that they would thank the doctors, but no they would instead bow down in front of the LONE PICTURE on the wall (that they were allowed to have on their walls), of the supreme leader of NKorea, and thank him! I remember telling the wife "OMG if we ever invade that country, they're so brainwashed we would have to kill or confine most, if not all of the population"!
When I was in the Navy, one of the most interesting tour I ever went on was to the DMZ of North & South Korea. We had to wear our uniforms, and stay in a group. The NKorean guards, on the border would just stare at us, and wait for an opportunity to jump us as they get a reward for killing an American. Inside the peace conference building, they would play their psychological games, like sawing 6-inches off the legs of the chairs on the American side (the North & South Korean border runs down the middle of the building, and is the only place one can actually step onto the NKorea side) so they would sit higher during negotiations. Or, saw 6-inches off our flag staff so our flag would stand lower than theirs. We constructed a new building on the American side, so the NKoreans had to build a bigger two story building on their side...only, it was only 4-6 feet deep, just a facade. It was a real interesting tour.
