The vague similarities call for a comparison.
As far as I can tell these folks were not detained, arrested, transported to another facility... IF these had been real, it would have been declared in the category of being so obvious that it was ingenious.
Since they were not it looks like a comedy skit.

That young kid from Texas makes a clock with a few additional wires and the community's authority figures go nuts! Even though he was known for creating all sorts of machines, even a cell phone charger...
