On Rightwing Christians: Have you noticed something odd about this Ashley Madison scandal?

by
SemDemFollow .

Since the Ashley Madison scandal broke, I have noticed a distinct lack of condemnation from you rightwing christians.

Where are all the youtube hate videos against the subscribers practicing adultery?

Where are the droves of protestors picketing AshleyMadison.com like Planned Parenthood?

It's pretty clear where Jesus stands with cheating on your spouse. In case you missed the Commandment of "Thou shalt not covet they neighbor's wife", Jesus laid it out:

In Mathew 5:27-30 he said if you even look at another woman with desire, then cut out your eye because it's better to "lose one of your members than to have your whole body go to hell".

Lust > Cheat > Hell. Pretty straightforward. There were other things He directly condemned, like divorce. Yet He was most clear on His biggest pet peeve: excess wealth.

Yet those are three things that today's rightwing Christian doesn't care about.
Massive greed? That's called "prosperity gospel" now. The parable of Lazarus? They root for the rich guy in hell.

Divorce? Adultery? Child Molestation? whoopsey-daisies. No big whoop.

But gays and abortions? That's where they burst arteries! Two issues Jesus said NOTHING about. Both of those things existed during His time. If they are the epitome of evil, you'd think they'd at least warrant a mention. But nothing.

So what about actual sins that are specifically mentioned and given no leeway at all in the Bible? Meh.

In fact, on Mike Huckabee's old cheesy talk show five years ago he featured Ashley Madison's CEO to tell "his side" of the story. Yes, Mike disagreed with what Ashley Madison was doing but then added "I could be wrong".

Seriously, go to 11: 43 of this video. That's what he said.

There is no ambiguity in the Bible about adultery. And yet, while the Bible says nothing about abortion, here is Huckabee defending Paraguay's awful decision to force an 11-year old raped by her stepfather to bear a child. Here is a man who said he would not be against using federal troops to stop women from getting abortions! Here is a man calling for mass arrests over gay marriage. This is the same guy who convulsed with anger over gays being allowed to be happy.

In fact, Santorum, Huckabee, Cruz, et. al have said nothing about the AshleyMadison scandal or a word of condemnation to their millions of subscribers. Maybe they are worried about alienating some supporters, but that means their virulent rants on nonissues become even more meaningless. It's almost like they are full of something....

Clearly there is no righteous, religious hate espoused for those who abuse or leave their marriages like there is for those who are in stable, homosexual relationships. Despite what the Bible says, these guys SWEAR to me that they know exactly who Jesus hates.

And I find it absolutely amazing that it always happens to coincide with their preconceived prejudices. Go figure.

I'll bet if Jesus said to love their enemies, they'd find a way around it. (Oh wait...)

So you will have to excuse me when I roll my eyes over your next meltdown. Where is the indignant condemnation now?

Where is your moral outrage against these sinners?

You'll rally like crazy against things not even in the Bible, but ignore and stay silent about AshleyMadison.

I guess it's hard to condemn something that you probably have an account with.

Seems someone is disappointed that others aren't out with hateful comments regarding people who follow Bill Clinton's example - and the disappointed ones seem to be those who supported Clinton's right to not only cheat on his family but perjure himself in the process.

the people who cheat on their spouses are disgusting vile people. The difference so carefully ignored is the fact that there is no activist group promoting this horrible behavior no Cheater's Rights organization demanding that it no longer be a sin, no group demanding that groups of unmarried people be welcome to stay together i your bead and breakfast, nor demanding that a "SEX WITH EVERYONE, ALL THE TIME", celebration cake be made by a Christian baker. There is not a group expecting taxpayers to pay for the Ashley Madison services for everyone either. The group of people who actually believe that promiscuity is wonderful, and a gift from God is made up of a small percentage of the population, at least the ones' who push their belief system on the rest of us. Your comparison is totally invalid, like comparing steak and tofu.

Excuse me, the example I used was Bill Clinton - are you suggesting he wasn't a cheater? The people I referred to as being upset that hateful comments were not being made about the Ashley Madison folks are likely the same people who supported Clinton's right to cheat and perjure himself in defense of it? Which of those comparisons do you consider invalid, Clinton or those who supported his right to cheat and lie?

No, I am certainly not saying that, as was Hillary, they are also thieves, frauds and liars of the first degree. however Glaucon was talking about the protests about Planned Parenthood and abortion, and he often talks about the wonderful world of homosexual marriage. I was not responding to your comment about Bill having sex with a large number of women, and perhaps some underage girls also. the left considers that just fine, but condemns Ashley Madison. All of them are despicable, but no one is standing up and saying Ashley Madison is wonderful and the behavior should be celebrated, as they have responded to those things I commented on.

I got the impression that you won't be voting for Hillary.

I hate even the thought of abortion, but I am intelligent and compassionate enough to realize that for some women in some situations, it is the best of some very bad choices.

I believe gays should have the same constitutional rights as straights. I would not want to prohibit hate mongering bigots from marrying.

I don't think either of us have any idea how many women Bill had sex with, however and no one has suggested he had sex with any underage women.

You seem extremely hateful, bigoted and misinformed. I doubt that you would be making these statements and accusations if you had to sign your name and take some responsibility for your venom.

Actually, the "good lord" was destroying the city and killing everyone it because SOME had sinned. You need to check more carefully next time.

Glaucon,

I think the reason for lack of comments is clear, this article in "freedom outpost" is very revealing..

Shame is the name, simply do not wish to talk about what the Christian right leaders get to when not on stage..

If anyone wishes to read the story, easy to find via google or Freedom Outpost site..

However, there is at least one outlet claims that around 400 church leaders will resign this Sunday after the list of customers to Ashley Madison was released.

Ed Stetzer wrote at Christianity Today, "Based on my conversations with leaders from several denominations in the U.S. and Canada, I estimate that at least 400 church leaders (pastors, elders, staff, deacons, etc.) will be resigning Sunday. This is a significant moment of embarrassment for the church—and it should be. To be honest, the number of pastors and church leaders on Ashley Madison is much lower than the number of those looking to have an affair. Yet, there is still much that we must consider in the midst of the embarrassment."

Stetzer estimates 400 church leaders were involved on the site.
