Rich list: 80 people with more money than 1/2 of humanity
http://www.hangthebankers.com/rich-list-people-with-more-money-half-of-humanity/
I must qualify this list;
Notice the Bankster cabalists are not listed; Rothschilds, Rockefellers, Warburgs, Goldmans, etc. Their wealth is hidden and protected in their trusts and foundations.

[Do not, repeat, do not use this as a "hit list" when the collapse and martial law comes. You have been advised. - RB]

Since the “financial repression,” the most powerful people have only gotten more powerful.

A 2013 Oxfam report found that 80 people had as much wealth as 1/2 of humanity, and a few months later Forbes said the number had dropped to 67.

Many of us asked who exactly these people are, and now the list has been released.

These are the same people, very likely, keeping the “filter” on our representative democracy. Do you feel uncomfortable about the fact that many of these people have seen their wealth increase drastically while at the same time the middle class shrinks and “austerity” is demanded almost globally outside of Sweden and Norway.

It makes me feel uncomfortable that the political influence of these people have served to increase their wealth and weaken regulations, and I suggest we seek meaningful changes on a systemic level.

Actually, I do feel uncomfortable with the current trend, given the current state. I think the curve has already past the point of economic sanity and is way beyond the point of social responsibility. Of course neither of these points is really a problem for anyone on the list. None of them are dying from poverty or depending on a buoyant economy to keep them out of poverty. In fact these billionaires are more likely to capitalize on an economic collapse than loose from it.

History should be giving us reason for alarm too, since it reveals a repeating pattern of power concentration leading to popular uprisings and revolution. But what makes this point in history unique is what those in power can buy with money now and if that doesn't send chills down the spines of anyone who knows what it means, then the realization that they have already bought the minds of half the American democracy sure as shit will.

See my response to the OP. I mentioned the social and economic concern of severe wealth distribution.

At this point I don't know your political leaning, so I won't make any assumptions yet... so I will ask...

Q1: Does it bother you that millions of people are suffering and dying from poverty while less than a hundred people have so much money they don't even know what do do with it?

Q2: Do you think economic stability depends on a more balanced distribution of wealth, such as what we had 20 or even 10 years ago?

If your answer to either of these is "yes" then should see problems with the current distribution of wealth.

Something else I noticed about the list that I thought was cool... The "self-made" indicator... It seems the ridiculous argument that people are rich because they work hard is never ending. This list makes it pretty clear that not all billionaires are self-made.

Another interesting point is that the top Americans on the list are Democrats with self-made indicators. The wealthiest Republicans are not self-made. I think that says something about them. I think it says something about the the basis of right-wing conservatism, which is to hold on tight to what you have and not let anyone take it away, which seems more the attitude of someone who was lucky enough to receive what he could never have achieved on his own.

I think it makes sense to say that self-made people are more likely to be confident in a level playing field where everyone gets an even chance, which is pretty liberal thinking.

So... not much of a discussion here... (I just said the same thing about another thread regarding the invasion of our privacy by software companies).

Now, if I start a thread suggesting that we treat Muslims, or homosexuals as equals then I guarantee pages and pages of frantic responses. Maybe, I'm getting bored with OPP. It seems there is very little interest in things that actually matter, while stupid issues of bigotry get undue attention.

I'm probably going to start looking for another forum. Every so often a good discussion can be found here but almost every time, more than one person will comment on it's rarity. I'm tired of having the same "sky is blue" arguments with babbling morons that refuse to accept the sky is blue so long as it's being suggested by a liberal. I did a search on One Political Plaza a few weeks ago and it was described by several commenters as being heavy on the extreme right. So I guess that's the reputation OPP has and I guess I shouldn't expect anything different. I probably shouldn't be surprised either that prevailing themes include strong prejudice against Muslims, homosexuals, blacks, atheists and immigrants. Meanwhile, not one concern about the fact that as a nation, we are turning our backs on democracy in favor of being owned by a wealthy class of oligarchs.

As Perry Farrell said... We'd make good pets.

I pretty much agree with all you say here;
OPP is described as far right by who?
Those on the left?
At least OPP allows both sides to make their points.
So OPP could be considered "far right" by some.
IMO - the Left and the PTB work hard on censorship.

You are right about subjects that should be considered and debated are ignored.
And a lot of mindless trolling from the left and right.
Any ideas why straightup?

If you find a good honest forum, I would appreciate the heads up.

Are the banking families self made.
They are not on the list.
They are both R and D, as they own both parties.

Who is it that makes it hard for small business to survive?
Who promotes monopolies, and shipping jobs over seas?

it may be generally true what you say about Republicans and Democrats. in some states you must be registered with the party to vote in the primary. Did it occur to you that some register in the opposite party in order to try to vote a loser in to run against their party?
it's still a secret ballot when you actually get to the pool as far as I know.
