The Citizens United Decision: Free speech or greasing the wheels of corruption?

Liberals and conservatives seem to agree on one thing: the federal gov't is corrupt. Is it all the money? Is there a distinction between liberal or conservative free speech?

Conservatives are somewhat more bashful about spending someone else's money. (They still do, but at least they act like they feel guilty).

Conservatives bashful about spending someone's else's money? Nope, I don't think so -- the House Republicans have spent $60 million of taxpayers money repealing Obamacare 40 times knowing that if it passed Congress the President would never sign for the demise of his own health care law. Bashful? Not in the least. They are now spending $53 million more taxpayers money doing their townhall speeches, again to repeal Obamacare.

Still with me? From the time the Republicans took over the House in 2011 they have spent $248.6 million more taxpayers money writing "anti-women" bills knowing the President would veto them. To verify that go to http://www.emilyslist.org/ and click on "War on Women".

This 113th Congress is the least productive Congress in our history and it costs taxpayers $54 million each week to run the House. Nope, no bashfulness on the Conservative side.

Whatever, this will political gold for Dems in the coming 2014 and 2016 elections.

I get your point about the acting part of guilt over spending tax payer money.

Citizens United was about voluntary contributions to political parties and causes. So if money is free speech, is this form of free speech corrupting our political process? I know conservatives supported the decision in general, but I wonder if they are having second thoughts.

And please don't get me wrong....I also know that liberals are using the Citizens case to their advantage.

Citizen's United, along with gerrymandering, was one of the worst things to happen to the political voice of the average american. Money corrupts politics, and our represtatives work for the money interests instead of americans. Gerrymander the districts so they get reelected no matter how crazy and unwilling to compromise they are, and do the bidding of the folks that pay to get them elected. So we have a congress that votes to defund Obamacare about 40 times, instead of doing any useful work to create jobs in this country. They write tax laws that let donors get special tax breaks, take jobs overseas. We don't get background checks for gun purchases, something the majority of Americans want, or higher taxes on the ultra rich, something the majority of Americans want, because these "representatives" do not represent us, the only represent there donors. Citizens United allows for unlimited, secret, contributions, i.e. BRIBES.

I don't think there is a difference between conservative or liberal free speech, but I do not think corporation are people entititled to free speech, and I do not think money is speech. These are the tenets of Citizens United-corporations are people and money is speech.

Once more, I said they ACTED like they felt guilty, not that they spent any less.
